It’s the same kind of degree of separation from the rest of the world’s footballers I agree. We probably shouldn’t compare different eras I suppose, but Messi and Ronaldo are without peer in the current game.
Maradona was great, but Pele was supreme. Look at clips of Pele in the 60s and Mexico World Cup. He was a player without an equal. (Maybe I am slightly biased, but I will stick to Pele ahead of anyone else.
I’d like to have seen Matt match Georgie drink for drink and then play the next day! ----------------------- George would have had him chucked out the pub before the hiss of the coke bottle!
Pele was amazing, but Maradonna continually made **** teams look good by dragging them single handed to greatness. I dislike the cheating little sh1t, but he was the best.
For me it's Maradona, what he achieved at Napoli was staggering 2 league titles(they had never won it before) runners up twice, UEFA cup and Coppa Italia with a team that had the likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan,Juventus,Roma around them.
I saw Best play for three clubs - for Fulham at the Dell, and for Hibs and Man U at Aberdeen. Pity he`d let it go by then.
LA Galaxy's Zlatan Ibrahmovic, who scored a 30-yard overhead kick against England in 2012, said: "It was a nice goal, but he should try it from 40 metres."
