Yep, as a 14 year old I was convinced we were going to lift the trophy at Wembley.

Still remember everything about the day, the travel up, the pub before the game (I was 14 so wasn't drinking obviously), the way we dominated. Oh and as long as I live I will never, ever forget the noise and sea of blue that erupted onto the pitch when that tosser scored. Probably the most gutted I have ever been as a football fan. And there have been a few moments to choose from!

Sadly, my biggest memory of that day is the Everton fans behind us climbing over the barrier into our bit and it all kicking off. That, and the police knocking us out the way, as they decided to come charging in the narrow walk way that Saints fans were trying to use to get out.

    I was a terrified 14 year old.

For the record I blame my mate’s Dad, because he asked if I wanted to go to the replay at Stoke just before that little tw*t scored.

I would be absolutely delighted, if we put in a performance that somehow sees us beat Chelsea.
But there will also be a part of me that would be thinking “Why haven’t the bastar* players put this amount of effort and heart into the league matches?”

I wonder what the odds on us beating Chelsea twice in consecutive weekends are?

Just looked, if you did it today it would be 30.5/1 on Bet365. I don't think I'd back us at those odds to win just one of the games .

So you wouldn't recommend mortgaging the house for £100k and putting it on that so i can retire in time for the Cup Final?

What worries me most about all this is that the two people on here most accused of being happy clappers (@Onionman and @fatletiss ) are resigned to us going down. I'm normally a 80% happy clapper and when I wane a bit, their posts make me go back to 100%.

The other weird thing is that I think @tomw24 and @fatletiss have swapped logons.

    We are doomed.

FA cup, any day of the week. By winning the FA Cup, you'll be making history, doing something that will be immortalised forever and people will remember. Finishing 17th is not making history, it won't be immortalised forever and after next season, people won't remember and it and frankly it won't matter.

Please can I stipulate now that anyone other than Richard Burton narrating the story of our final few weeks of the season will not be tolerated.

Your memory is failing you. We rolled over against Sunderland at the Dell and drew 1-1 which if we had won would have made us champions. Now cut out the selective memory you're not a woman FFS.
