I work in hotels and he stayed were I worked when he first moved to Liverpool, he was one of the most polite, curtious footballers I have ever met. I think he gives a large chunk of his wages to his foundation that helps in Sierra Leone, so its a bit harsh to judge him as not a nice person due to a argument with Shearer and tom foolery with a golf club.

On the talk of football, im a bit surprised there is talk of him. Doesnt really sit in with what we have been told is our transfer stratergy but I guess if they can get him on low wages, just for 1 season it fill a gap until we can fill that role next season

I think that as long as he drops his wages slightly then it won't be such a bad move, he's certainly worth a place on our bench especially if N'gog goes. I say give him a one year contract if he does well we can extend it if not then we can let him go, as i don't think there's much better out there for a backup option at the minute especially for free.

I think the only concern is that he could end up being another 'Joe Cole', but I'm sure the owners and Kenny will have learnt from mistakes made by the previous regime.

As some posters have mentioned, tell Bellamy to reduce his wage demands and give him a short term contract and I think that definately mitigate the risks.

Although I feel David Ngog has improved, I sense that he will be leaving soon so we definately need a backup. Players who can play up front are Kuyt and Carroll who are both quite slow. Bellamy would add another dimension to our attack with his pace and trickery.

This is something that has impressed me with Kenny's signings this year - they've all added something different to the team, something that we have lacked.

    The_King,

It's not that he's a "bad person"- and from what I understand he got on with most of the squad while he was at 'pool. Appeared to be always having fun with them- and constantly talking to them... even in the middle of a game.

I've also heard he's big into charities, etc.

Problem is- he is impulsive and quick to anger and then does stupid things. Cue- nightclub brawls and golf clubs hitting red-headed left-backs.

He's like the hulk only not as green... "you wouldn't like him when he's angry." People like that can be the nicest people in the world until they see the red mist- and then they do things they regret.

I know people like that in "real-life", I'm sure you all do too.

He's a risk, yes, but potentially a good one... hopefully every year will mellow him and make him more mature and less impulsive- if he came back he may never swing a club in anger and be a model professional... no way of telling.

Is he better than Ngog? I would say far far better so I'd much prefer him as backup. 1 or 2 year deal would be a good idea. Hopefully by then one of the youth players will be able to step in

Muppet makes some good solid points, and in Kenny I trust, so I'll wait and see, but it does scare me..

He can hold the line better than Ngog can. I was against it to begin with, I now gone 50/50. If it can be done on a free transfer, its a good deal. He wouldn't exactly be a bad stand-in for Suarez. Without Suarez and someone else in the side the players would be less inclined to play long balls up to Andy Carroll, they don't tend to do so when Suarez is in the side.

To be honest i was 100% against it. I am slightly warming to it as there is talk of a rolling contract so we wont end up with the whole Cole saga again. And yeah he is better than N'gog.

I agree, when I started this thread i was thinking that we don't need him but then thinking who would I rather come on to win us a agame,Bellamy or Ngog then there's only one choice and it's not Ngog.Plus he can play out wide and he is still pacey so maybe it would be a good choice on a free!
yeah actually warming to the thought and I am excited at the prospect of signing Sebastian Coates too after reading all the rave reviews of him.The next 5 days should be quite interesting.

I think the only other one but this isn't as a player, is Kenny in his return as boss. He will, when he's successful will change the view that you should never go back.
He slotted straight back into it. He's managing the same way he did the last time although this time is obviously is more of a challenge, as the last time, we were the best team in England. He says its his job to make Liverpool the best team in England, and he's relishing the challenge.

This sort of move reminds me of when we brought in Karl-Hienze Riedle... experienced back up that can really change a game when called upon.

Almost... a true right-wing player would be nice too.

We've got people who can play there- but no natural right winger. I suppose Henderson was supposed to be our right winger.
