An ideal structure for me would be Steijn as head coach working closely with Reuser, as the assistant manager, and Nash working with the reserves and academy lads. Klug in a Director of Football role.
Nuggets, that would be my ideal set up, would be fantastic if we get just one of them, but both.. wow
Know little about this Dutch lad Steijn - however here is what I do know. Two jobs in Holland, one with Ado and his current with VVV. Until recently. VVV were very much overachieving. He's done a good job there. A poor recent run since beating Feyenoord has seem them falter, without a win in 7. On soccerway looking at systems used - Looks very much a 4-3-3 man. Doesn't appear to make early game changing subs upon defeat. - sample highlights of a game this season. Loads on youtube of course. Looks a decent brand - ball on the deck, encourages to get it forward however without hoof hoof av it. Seems to want movement etc. May well be a decent fit. Why not. Rather him than Sherwood / some of the other idiots out there.
I heard on talk sport yesterday that the cowley boys are heavily linked with the town (I know it's just talk and could well be fake news) however, I think this would be a good fit and tick a lot of boxes I'm not sure I agree with the hoofball tag they have, there is nothing wrong with playing the long ball if it is effective (you only have to look at Leicester and Jamie Vardi and no I'm not comparing Lincoln with Leicester) We played hoofball at every opportunity while Lincoln played the ball through the middle and using the long ball as and when They are hungry young managers who possess a deep knowledge of league 1&2 players and I believe there is a wealth of talent in the lower leagues that are capable of the step up Another point is that this talent pool could be reaped with a low cost to ME which would please him. This would allow us to get away from signing has beens and concentrate on the youth And correct me if I'm wrong but don't Lincoln have a Wembley date later on which would explain why they haven't taken over yet Either way exciting time and already looking forward to the new season But whoever takes over we have to be patient and allow the manager a decent length of time to get their ideas across
I don't want the Cowley brothers. I think they are just a good fit for one team, will not cut it anywhere else. They've done fantastic, but to go from a club that was non league, to one of the so called big clubs in the championship is a huge leap.
Not sure we can even call ourselves “a so called big club in the championship” anymore. We haven’t really been close to that sort of level for nearly a decade, particularly for anyone viewing us outside of Suffolk. Plus I’m not sure they are even that high on the list. They were listed as favourites early on and people seem to be lumping on, on little more than a hunch or personal preference, which is why the odds have kept shortening. Can’t see Evans being willing to pay compensation for a League 2 manager
That is a good point. But Blackburn aren't the most stable club it's the Venkys in charge there after all. It's worth a go anyway, for all MEs ills he gives managers time
Think you've got to give the manager the opportunity to have the assistant he wants. All for having former Ipswich players in positions but how do we know if they're any good? Didn't we try Klug in a similar role when Magilton was here and it was agreed that didn't really work. His best position is at the academy
I think whoever comes in has to be made aware of the reasons why it went sour for Mick.. Style of football and alienating sections of the support being the two main ones. We need our new manager to have a go at actually winning football matches whilst incorporating some of our youth into the team. I'm glad that Mick won't have a say in who is released or sold now because I was starting to fear that the likes of Kenlock would be farmed out, never to be seen again.
I will say I'm glad that Downes is having a loan spell though, it will do him a lot of good and he'll come back to us a better player for it. Shame Mick wouldn't use him more but if he's not then it's better to get experience somewhere else for a few months than sit on the bench for us. Personally I think Downes should be playing for us regularly instead of Connolly but would also rather him be out on loan than not playing at all.
There’s much to admire of the Cowley’s but surely the champ is a hell of a big ask of guys who never played or coached near it? It seems a helluva punt to me. Can we really imagine them managing us in the prem? They’d be as star struck as the rest of us?! Sean Dyche at Burnley is surely a set up we could emulate and someone like Paul Cook would fit that mould. Wigan play good footy and he’s happy using flair players like nick Powell. Can’t see Mowbray coming. Is his contract up this summer? He’s at a big ish club and has momentum and his team. Where’s the attraction of starting all over with us and no money to do if with?
Looks like we've got our man: http://www.skysports.com/football/n...than-bayern-munich-says-karl-heinz-rummenigge
Please no... The bbc sport report mentioned Michael Appleton as potential successor. I’d forgotten about him. He’s spent enough time learning the ropes he could be good. As ever it’s a question of getting these guys and werd not a terribly attractive proposition; aspirations of going up, playing good footy oh and no money to do it with...
Mick could be gone by the time I wake up. Just seen the story on twtd and it looks like he may well leave before the next game. <breathessighofrelief>
Alan Pardew - No, feck off Michael Appleton - No, feck off Mowbray - meh Cowley bros - no thank you McLaren - No, feck off Paul Hurst - maybe, talks a good game
Not too dissimilar from me on this pile. I'm also very meh with Tony...... Warboughton I was very against until I saw his win record. Woud love Bristol Rovers gafa Clark, however a long time left on his current deal ( 4 years ) so that's likely to be a no. While not keen on McLaren, he does play superb footy however loses the plot and wastes a lot of £££. Considering our financies.... not sure. Bookies seem to think it's the Lincoln boys.
