Barton has signed a 4-year deal yes? but reportably it has a relegation clause in it meaning he would be a free at the end of this season, so really the odds are against him, im not sure if thats true but if it is, why has he signed that? yes QPR could stay up but thats probably got the same odds as him getting offered a new deal half way through the year for us if he had stayed. just wondering what you think about the clause?

Sensible by QPR but rather silly on JB side signing it he could have a rubbish season or injury and be left with no club unless West Ham come in for him

that's what I was thinking, it just seems like a similar situation to what he would have been here really, apart from hed probably have more chance of a bigger club coming in for him if he had stayed at us for one more year

Surely the clause would mean he could leave for nowt if somebody puts in a transfer offer (basically like the situation here) but if nobody came in for him he could stay.

Or would he just be released?

ahh see i got the idea it was a release clause, so QPR's would not struggle with wages if they went down?

I assume it would be the same as that of Demba Ba when we signed him. I'm pretty sure he had the option to stay at West Ham.

He could have stayed at West Ham or he could have left on a free transfer, which he did

Will it not be the same as Ba's with West Ham?

Because he's been offered a nice big wage. All about the money.

I think QPR will still go down. Joey alone can't save the club. He'd have to do far better down there than he ever has up here for that to happen. I mean really racking up the goals and assists.

They are trying to sign Parker though, and he did really well in keeping West Ha- oh wait.
