Forte is one of those players who was not a massive success overall, but scored at the right time to write himself into Saints history.
Still the opportunity for someone to do that this season..... Jan Bednarek winner against Chelsea? Alex McCarthy saves a penalty against Bournemouth? Nathan Redmond scores against Man City to keep us up? Or I've eaten too many easter eggs this morning
Question of the day, do I bother buying tickets for Leicester away, only 40 miles away and a great place to watch football but is it worth it going to watch a team od spineless players who appear not to give a toss?
I bought a ticket for Bournemouth based on my renewed confidence (obviously built on sand) when we changed manager. Will I go? No idea at the moment. TBH I will probably come more when we are in the Championship (yes, I am that certain).
Go for it. Puel is sh1t, easy win. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Be proud to be a saint, even though the team aren't doing us proud at the moment. If it was 40 miles from me I would definitely be there. Go on dark Lord. .
One of the best away days I had was at Forest for the last day of the season. We were already ****, already relegated, but a cracking atmosphere that the Forest fans were a little bemused by.
Burnley at home was pretty good as well having had points deduction (and relegation) confirmed a few days ago. If we're the same situation come City it will be interesting to see if the atmosphere is party or the opposite.
Bizarrely, a highlight of my 6 decades of following the Saints. As you say, great atmosphere. Gallows humour at its best
Hope it doesn't come to relegation (though suspect it will), but are Saints fans the same as they were? Or have we been so spoilt by success, that we react to adversity with a less philosophical attitude.
I think some are entitled, but no more than last time as we had 27 years in the top flight then. The championship and League One brought us down to earth, that is nearly forgotten now.
Relegation doesn't hold the same fear it did for me when we left the PL last time, probably for a number of reasons. Before I had never known Saints to be anything other than a PL team so had no idea what the Championship was like. Before I liked the PL far more than I do now where I find it all a bit pointless. Before I think I cared about football far more than I do now. The big negatives for going down for me is firstly we have no idea how the owner will react to relegation and what will happen next year. The only other negative is a personal one which is I wont be on here as much or giving my awesome insight to games as I won't be able to watch many games on streams as they are harder to find for the Championship.
https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018...eed-gallagher-seager-cook-lewis-gardos-clasie Loan watch. Targett continues to have a good time with Fulham and is likely to have his loan extended to cover the play offs. Enjoy yourself, Matty.....we're in pain here. List of other loanees, including Florin who had a debut for a club I'm not even going to attempt to remember.
Just imagining the scenario where Fulham get promoted and want to keep Matty Targett....big decision for him....does he remain in the EPL or return to his home club in the Championship. From our POV, we would want to keep a player with promotion experience. Something poetic in this.
When does his contract run out? Personally I would refuse to sell him. He would be worth more to us than Fulham would pay.
