That has actually happened in a game I watched recently, can't remember which one (maybe a La Liga game) but turned to the dog and said well done that ref.

Edit.......may have been one of the international friendlies.

Well well done that ref and thats what i think should have happened yesterday :)
Needs to happen more as the refs are basically saying they will not be fooled imho. People are more preoccupied about the pen than the morals of the game.

TBF it wasn't a pen I was talking about, just a foul. The ref gave the free kick and booked the aggrieved player for simulation/exaggeration.

Is he good at chasing balls as well?
If I got another dog I think I'd call him Moreno.

Still a start though, it shouldnt really matter if it is a pen or not, we all know it does like.
Bugs me when a foul is given in the middle of pitch that is ignored when in the area.

One of the few things pundits get right "anywhere else on the pitch and that's a foul" .
They have to agree on something <laugh>

As Diego points out, contact doesn’t mean there was a foul. There are two separate simulation offences in the laws, pretending to be fouled and pretending to be injured. Mane may or may not be guilty of the first but was certainly guilty of the second.

There is a good reason for that. How many times have we heard from pundits, managers, players: “ To give a penalty, the referee must be 100% sure. He mustn’t guess and if he isn’t sure or hasn’t seen it, then he can’t give it”?

Which also means that the ref can go on balance of probabilities outside the penalty area (and accepted by managers, players and all). The player tumbles in the middle of the pitch and the referee blows the whistle. He wouldn’t have seen exactly what happened, obstructed by others but no big objections as it is not a penalty. The only iffy ones that cause uproar are those given on the edge of the penalty area, with a clear sight of goal.

Nah thats a kopout that imho , a ref is not supposed to guess on anything, plus how many times does a ref give pens based on what a lino has said, in fact i am fairly certain a much debated penalty that was awarded this season was given despite a ref saying on camera he wasnt sure.
There is less pressure when a ref gives a decision in the middle of the pitch which is what has lead to pundits making that excuse. That said i could be wrong<laugh>
Is it written that a ref can go on balance of probability anywhere?

Seriously going to go with that, lmao
That would mean the ref missed , what 20+ incidents in that game alone. Let alone the hundreds of examples of this in every round of the league.
When you watch your team do you witness any of these pretend injuries. You do realise your manager has condoned this in the modern era dont you?

Not that we can say whether ot not mane was injured very very temporairily or not cause there was contact.
