There was a special Front Row on Radio 4 yesterday devoted entirely to his centenary. It does say 25 August on Wiki, but I assume the BBC know what they’re talking about, especially as one of his sons was interviewed!
@Saints_Alive I just checked on the official Leonard Bernstein site https://leonardbernstein.com and his birthday is definitely 25 August 1918. I think the BBC just chose yesterday for some reason as there are special events going on, for two whole years from 25 August last year to the same date in 2019. Apologies for the confusion, Wiki was right after all!
In 1985, i went to The Longest Day concert at Milton Keynes Bowl. I was a young teen and there were some amazing acts performing that day including Spear of Destiny, the brilliant Billy Bragg, The Ramones, R.E.M and a raw U2. Fantastic day brilliant concert. Despite all those brilliant artists the performance that stayed with me was by a band called The Faith Brothers. Went on to produce 2 brilliant albums. Here is a Stranger on Home Ground
