****ing awful position to be in mate.

    But family is family.

Yeah I know you're right. I'm not very forgiving though of I feel sleighted by those close to me

My advice is, as soon as he's turned the corner at the end of the street, move house yourself and don't tell him where you've gone.

When my son left for Uni almost 10 years ago, his mum turned to me and said "we've done our jobs now". He moved back in with me this year, so it appears she got that one wrong.

    Family is family mate.

    Nothing else matters.

Kids these days have a whole of **** to deal with that we never had. It was easier back when I was a kid. And we had it easier than the generation before me. National service and all that stuff.

I'll always be there for my lads. Right or wrong. What else am I if not a father to my kids?

    Hr's 19. I'd been to N I twice by then.

Pack his bag, give him a hug, then lock the door behind him.

I blame the lack of full grants for students. I effectively left home when I went to University and never looked back. No need to have any discussions with the parents - natural thing to do when you are moving away from the area.
Harder these days when kids are being forced to live at home to study due to costs, meaning that natural break doesn't occur.
With our son who went to university in city where we lived we told him we would pay for first year in uni accomdn but he would live at home for next 3years. He took the first year then arranged a flat with his mates for next year without telling us and not only presented us with the fait accompli but asked us to act as guarantors for the lease.
Mrs was furious with him - I secretely wished him well. All good now.

Not sure how I survived uni to be honest as I’m awful at cooking, cleaning etc. but if I can anyone can. In halls first year my flatmate was a cross-dressing medical student who kept the place spotless and I learned the absolute basics but still can’t iron. He dropped out of uni to go and study English Lit in London somewhere and now lives as a woman full-time last I know.

Bought my first place last year and fortunately the missus is decent at most of it. The cleaner is the last luxury I’d give up. Stay at home forever, kids, and you’ll inherit the house soon enough. Millennials are the future!
