See that's the problem with young people today. Greedy. I'm hopeful that we will stay up. Like Fats I'm not optimistic that we will make the finals.
Optimism is a choice. Belief is a choice. Might as well hope for the best (while being prepared to accept the worst).
The way I look at it is that the games are the wrong way round. We have a Final against Chelsea (one of our 7 finals left) on the 14th, with a semi final against them the following week.
I think survival is worth more than a Cup if they are mutually exclusive. However, as survival becomes tougher (and I say that with resignation rather than despair) then I swing towards the Cup...though that is hardly a doddle either. Are we all gripping tight....this should be interesting (which is better than it looked before MP2 left).
Always my preferred choice. This relegation problem is over-hyped. I've not yet been to Shrewsbury's new ground, and now can look forward to the possibility. And we can play Wigan twice. Bring it on.
Just reviewing this post: West Ham let me down; City's under 8's would beat us currently; Father Christmas is screwed. No more wishes from me
To achieve either we will need to turn up and be ridiculously lucky more than one game in a row or put in a helluva shift and beat very good teams. Just saying.
Might be a bit harder to do now after Chelsea v Spurs result! It’s looking like the Blues only way to the European big stage, then of course....,, it’s our only way too!!
Has happened with surprising frequency in recent years. Birmingham and Wigan were dumped in the group stage in 2011-12 and 2013-14, respectively. Pompey would have been a third such team in 2010-11, but they couldn't get a UEFA license. Also, Chelsea is pretty well guaranteed their spot in Europe next year, with or without the FA Cup final. The FA Cup went to a team that already holds a European spot, and we're the only team remaining in the FA Cup that doesn't. Thus, at least the top six in the league will get Europey or better.
