I said a few weeks back that the players’ body language concerned me. They all look like whipped dogs. They start the game with a bit of hope, then as soon as someone fecks up, the shoulders slump, the fears surface and they lose all focus. There are no leaders in the team, who will give a teammate a rollicking or boost them up after a mistake, depending on what works best for each player.
Bournemouth will be much worse, it can't be done mathematically I don't think but depending on results they could pretty much put the final nail in. They'd love that too. Like I say on another thread, I'm surprised that it's not an early ko, particuarly after a few of them caused problems last year.
On that basis, what about Martin Chivers, Mick Channon, Michael Svennson, Claus Lundekvram, Anders Svensson, Gareth Bale...... or how about just getting behind the players / team / squad that NEED every bit of supprt now! Time for recriminations should be AFTER the last whistle of the final game of the season............. could even be at Wembley; Saints that is, of course
No, really the problem came when we deviated from the formula. Not that the formula was our choice. Our best players will always want to go, we just have to get good money for them. The problem came when we started pocketing money instead of spending on replacements. I knew we might be in trouble the season when we sold Mane, and then re-signed Long (and Davis and Tadic, etc.). Everyone was so happy we were hanging on to our “best players.” When those are your best players, your team is in trouble, as we are now seeing. Remember when everyone thought Pelle sucked?
Stoke had the chance to beat a lacklustre Arsenal at a demoralised Emirates, and blew it. Now it's our turn. That said, I don't regret not buying a ticket for that one.
If those who had the audacity to wear the shirt yesterday, and then wondered around thinking about the summer whilst WHU breezed past them, are picked, Arsenal will believe Christmas has come very early. In fact the way it’s going the FA might even consider if there is a betting scam going on! It almost looks like some of them are steering themselves to any easy pay-out day. Pick those who care and will not give up at the first hurdle please Mark.
Agree with Ian that it will be fascinating to see how he gets on next season and their transfer business in the Summer.
