Disappointing, but an entertaining game which we should have won easily, we played well but just seem to not have the final quality on the final ball. Some good performances from most of the team with returning players we should get better and better. Thanks for your company again and see you next time. Happy Choc Fest tomorrow all.
That was predictable - harsh foul called by Okaka then poacher Defoe nibs in. Generally an open game and lots of positive performances - Hughes, Kiko, Mariappa etc. Sadly Holebas was silly with that handball.
Today Andy Madley took charge of his first PL game at the Vic. No ref ever gets things 100% right, but I thought he did alright. Any thoughts?
I thought he was fine, not panicked into any decisions. Felt Okaka went for the ball (as did Okaka) but his leading arm went against him. Thought yellow was harsh though.
The strongest part of his coaching regime is educating his players in the art of getting opponents sent off!
You only have to look at the foul count to see how much Bournemouth conned the referee How they did not get at least 2 yellows and a potential red card only the referee and linesmen in front of the GT stand can ever know, the linesmen got a lot of the throw in decisions wrong as well
Just watched the highlights on the Watford website. The handball by Holebas was criminal, that with laying down and letting a goal pass him earlier in the season makes me wonder his logic. WBA might sell us the left back we wanted before as I, for one, don“t see Holebas as a dependable professional anymore. Even if Gibbs wanted more $ but does he want Champ footy? Mason is hardly setting it alight in Scotland Div 2 and Zeegelar is below Holebas as it is. Apart from that maybe our two goals were lucky with the deflections. Total switch off at the end mind. It's Defoe, have to have him under lock and key. He had acres of space. Still, looking safe and I hope the fat lady is cleaning her throat at our chances of going down. All, well mostly, results went out way at the bottom again. Only Newcastle and WHU won and all the others lost, so some ground made there.
On another forum there was a debate about whether Bournemouth are a derby for us. I have never thought of them as rivals. The number of times they have ever finished higher than us must be countable on two hands. They are not local. I just see them as a.n other team that have often been in the same division as us - often lower though and never higher. Some argued that older fans see it as a derby - does any silver surfer fan here think so?
I don't really think we have a derby match but if pushed it would be QPR or that lot up road. Certainly not Bournemouth, their derby match is with Soton.
