I know it's irrational but is it strange that I'm not feeling any more worried about our chances as I was yesterday morning? I never bought into the whole, lose this and we're down.
We were never going to hang on to players of the ability of Toby, Van Dyke, Mane, Clyne, etc with clubs able to offer them triple the salary and agents sniffing around. The sad thing is that, by having to let players go for free at the end of their contract, the chances of a club without massive resources building and keeping a really talented team has gone forever. The top clubs will remain at the top and cream off players for themselves - even if they loan them out so other premiership clubs can’t get them. Do you honestly think we’d have been able to get Keegan these days? The whole game has been ruined for me as there’s virtuallly no chance of any “unusual” winners (and I know Leicester did it, but that’s highly unlikely to happen again). If we do go down I’ll stiil support Saints, but I am enough of a realist to know that the Cup remains our best chance of the “big time” and we will only bounce around the middle to bottom of the premiership, if we get back up there.
Hughes has never won his first premier league match for any team he has managed! I am holding on too any optimism right now
Truth be told and I posted here before Saturday... I was 60/40 us going down before this game. A win would have put me at 50/50. Now I’m 70/30.
I'm still about 50-50. Like I say I never bought into this being the game that if we lose then we're down. Still plenty of time to go and we need 3 wins... easier said than done of course but I'm still relatively positive. I still believe (as I've said for a while) that we'll need to beat a top 6 side though, so Chelsea or Arsenal.
Not sure, think if we stay up he'll write it off as a poor managerial appointment ignoring the bigger issues. If we go down we'll see if he wants to help us get back up or if he is really just trying to get his money out of China.
That's about how I see it - or around 5/2 against us staying up. 5/2 shots win everyday (horses, that is)
It is not just losing to West Ham that has me accepting we are down, it is how we aren't playing. There is nothing at all, players are either not assed or soon as they do something wrong heads drop and that's it. There is nothing there at all. Unless something changes big time we are down
this doesn't make sense because what footballer would want to leave the Premiership? but I absolutely do fail to understand the lack of fight?
