Not so sure about that. There’s a core of players in this squad who are not the least passionate about SFC as a entity. It’s been this way since before Puel left. If I’m proved wrong I’ll be delighted, but if you put Guardiola behind this lot, I doubt if it would be any different. It’s too easy and comfortable here. It’s not about the level of talent, it’s the absolute mind set to win, whatever the odds, few if this lot have that mind-set.
Maybe a better manager would have dropped 1/2 the team and played youth. Agree though, players don’t give a toss.
Those boring ,tedious draws seem like the good old days compared to the last two results. Like you, I wont stop being a Saints supporter if we get relegated. I will just be an older and grumpier Saints supporter. We've hardly had any good old days to hark back to. Only Europa cup games, promotions, cup wins etc. Im rambling now. Goodnight.
The squad isn't good enough. There are no leaders on the pitch, and not one player good enough to be more than a bench warmer in a top 6 side. So we probably would.
You can’t tell me we’re the 3rd worst squad in life league. Romeu was a leader last year. Davis and Maya are leaders. The squad is much weaker than 2 seasons ago but shouldn’t be rele material. Anyway enough of this ****. I’m off to watch AJ.
Absolutely no point in playing Tadic unless he is constantly on the left, he has never produced anything playing anywhere else.
If Chelsea have any sense, they'll play Morata and Giroud against us in back-to-back weeks*. They'll score about eight headers between them. God knows what Stephens was doing with that Arnautovic header. Time for Maya to come in for him. *(Yes, I know that even if they don't, Hazard and co will still run rings around our lot)
You/we did highlight our attacking deficiency before the game. Not a single goal in those three games. You can overcome defensive deficiency by sheer weight of numbers (ie West Ham playing 5-4-1). Sam and Tony have always said that sorting out a defence is easier than sorting out an attack. But if your attacking players are rubbish/bereft of confidence/lacking match fitness, well...
We, the supporters must have picked that up from the players. They don't get a **** about Southampton, if we go down half will be back in the Premier league next season, it will be how we spend the money that will count. And so, far this season we have been ****ed by the Black Box.
Maya has to start over Stephens if healthy. And if he isn't healthy, I'm not against gambling with Bednarek at this point. Stephens is just beaten so easily, so consistently.
I like that team, unfortunately we would have to put on some of those subs. I am eight hours behind the UK time, so hence the spattering of sarcasm in my recent post and 3 12 year old Mcellans
