Just caught a show on Channel 5, discussing how Kylie Minogue has had such longevity and sustained success. They put it down to her ability to reinvent herself and relate to folk, but I reckon it's something to do with being bankrolled by a superfan from Northampton.
Before Kylie gets interviewed by anyone, she checks who is going to be there, whether she’s met them before, when etc etc. Then she’ll go in and say “Hey Mike, how are you? Not seen you since *insert last time here*”. She’s clever like that. Makes people feel special.
But in fairness, that is what makes a star a star. Makes people feel special. I met Matt Le Tissier for the first time when I was about 28. I met him again at a dinner at 35 and he came up to me and remembered my name and my drink. Made me feel special. It is nothing to do with me making a fool of myself before you all say it Hats off to Kylie if she does something similar. I know I have put MLT and Kylie in the same sentence, but you get my gist. I must meet Kylie one day. Though I fear she will remember me for the wrong reasons . I'm sure you get a reduced sentence at my age.
In the restaurant I managed in London, we did a staff briefing of the people booked in before lunch and dinner service, what they like or did not like, any problems they may have had previously, what was their job and the like, it may seem somewhat clinical to some, but it's a nice touch when people know your name.

Just in case anyone is interested . I don't think I have ever been so bloody bored in my entire life . As you were.
Yeah I find it frustrating because like you say 90% of the frontline staff are brilliant but there's obviously the few who aren't and that's what people focus on unfortunately.
That's the way of the world sadly , but one patient in particular was taking the piss. Does my nut . Type 1 diabetic no legs , buggered off outside to smoke just as lunch was served , came back to minutes later and told a member of staff who was not aware that the person who put the food down left the lid off so it had gone cold
