The famed St James atmosphere is a myth.

Atmosphere all round the country has taken a nosedive. PC brigade, all seater, whatever, the thrill of going to games isn't what it was most of the time, with the exception of the man Utd game. That's why I gave my season ticket up and mainly go to away games. Saying that, I go to most home games as well......

Seats and the new breed of fan that high prices has brought. They have gentrified the game. Football is not about going to games and taking ****ing selfies.

Bloke sitting in front of me spends most of his time looking at his telephone telling everyone what the scores are at the other games or filming himself and his kid or taking selfies. Everyone in my area call him Spielberg.

Must be the Scottish part of me but it’s too expensive going to the game now to be wasting it not religiously watching the game.

Spent most of the game slagging off Atkinson with his irratic reffing
His positioning at Huddersfield corners was shocking no movement couldnt be bothered with punishing the holding and grappelling on our keeper, turned his back on play on many occasions

Was in Leazes as well, atmosphere was ok, I've been to Arsenal this season, and that was like a morgue in comparison.

Diame was an absolute beast today amde easily our best player, completely smashed the **** out of the Huddersfield midfield. Shelvey was frustrating, some great passes, then some lazy moments and awful shooting. Our defence didn't do much but it didn't need to, Kennedy drifted in and out but got a great assist, Ritchie was pretty bad, Perez was okay, Gayle was bloody atrocious and Silmani needs to start next game.

Overall we weren't great, good thing Huddersfield were total ****e.

Aye, Gayle wasn't firing today. Rafas too pig headed to get Mitro back, he's dropped a bollock imo.

Dunno. Shouldn't have let him go in the first place. Something like 10 in last 10 games club and country, albeit championship.

Oh I totally agree - especially with bringing in Slimani, surely Rafa would have thought he could have learnt from him?

I was on a 12 hour shift today and couldn't get many updates - but hey, what a magnificent day for us and crappy day our rivals (bar WHU)!

Except he can’t as we’re playing Leicester.

    ****ing amazing.
Rushed home from Amsterdam, missed the first 5 mins and assumed we would be receiving kharmic retribution for Kennedy's act against sot'ton, but alas.
I honestly thought we might just have lost this looking back, but you look at our team for choices and you ask what other outcome could be expected, this was always a possibility.
We did our classic 'better em for near first half, the crowd turns, we're chasing a draw the rest of the game'.
But they ****ing didn't. Best of home crowds I've heard this season. Yes, we've had far louder noise, but for for sticking through the inevitable lull with the team, this was unrivalled.
From then on it was a bit of luck, but we had the players to make that happen and we held out with consummate ease in the end.
Props to Kenedy, when the world is moving this guy's watching and is the closest player we've had to such a thing since Ben Arfa. May not perform all game but when that moment come, who else would you have?
And Dummett. Becoming my most coveted player. Boyhood club and attached expectations are easy things in paper, but this **** is making it look natural! I don't want a more attacking full back, I don't want 3 at the back, I want Dummett defending my lines and continuing this improvement on choices in attack.

All in all, a successful result and a beautiful reminder not to trounce a double CL winners good name by comparing him with the Keegan's and Robson's of this Toon world (and for the mentally challenged, Pardew's).

    7 games left.

    7 points ahead.

Sorry if I thank Benitez for achieving a job we all thought unachievable at the start of this season!

Doh. Ok, well at least don't have Gayle in the starting XI then. Recall Joselu.....yes, Gayle was that bad today.

Hope you're not one of the guy's that's been moaning about Joselu all season!
Gayle did what he needed to do and got in places the other strikers wouldn't have.

I am looking back on a win mind, but his contribution seemed solid enough again.

    Out of curiosity,
Does anyone think Mitro would have contributed more today to the game than Gayle???
Just checking how much respect to pay to each person's opinion.
Consider Pouch as -10 and work your way up from there!

Would say Pouchy is more a -30.348 than a -10.

I was trying to be generous. To be fair as much as some attempt to entertain his odd philosophies, he's still unarguably far out in front as our resident nutjob
