Just read this Guardian article..... https://www.theguardian.com/comment...-facebook-google-has-on-you-privacy?CMP=fb_gu Any views on how to regain some privacy? Change of browser? PC settings? FB settings?
Google knows all of the searches we have made looking for pub quiz answers Yorkie - they must be thoroughly confused by now.
And I have just added to it by suggesting on the gardening thread that you start searching for methods of composting.
Facebook is bizarre with how it chooses what your interests are. I keep getting the Barnet Conservative Association's posts on my feed. I must have liked a comment that was slagging them off
Sometimes Big Brother is fairly clumsy. I bought a petrol-engined strimmer last summer and since then I can’t tell you the number of adverts I get coming up trying to sell me another.
and don't ever buy music or books that you don't like online. Way too many emails about teeny bopper music come up on my feeds!
It's amazing that my computer still remembers that I ordered an electronic buzz tube to scare away voles 3 years ago, yet government bodies send me forms asking such questions as 'where do you live' and 'when were you born' every year.
If anyone, anywhere is tracking this my name is Alfonso Rustbucket and I live in Lapland. I am nine years of age and collect old lawnmowers. There, make what use you will of that bit of data
Like most I signed up to facebook and was amused for a couple of years and made sure I posted pretty benign stuff but I found so much crap coming my way from friends and particularly family that I blocked most of them. I decided a couple of years ago to withdraw from FB and made the privacy as secure as possible and removed all my personal data, stopped posting, but kept the account on as I was a member of a few groups. I really get fed up with being asked to log in to my account with FB. I have now decided to close the account as I don't like being Mr Zuckerberks product without payment. I will ask him if he wants my data and if so we can agree a regular payment, a photocopy of my bum starts at £1m. I never started a twatter or an instabin account thank goodness.
Me neither... .sadly FB is so good for keeping in touch with people I will keep it going Anybody use a more secure browser than google etc?

The Trump administration has said it wants to start collecting the social media history of nearly everyone seeking a visa to enter the US. The proposal, which comes from the state department, would require most visa applicants to give details of their Facebook and Twitter accounts. They would have to disclose all social media identities used in the past five years. About 14.7 million people a year would be affected by the proposals. The information would be used to identify and vet those seeking both immigrant and non-immigrant visas. Applicants would also be asked for five years of their telephone numbers, email addresses and travel history. They would be required to say if they had ever been deported from a country, or if any relatives had been involved in terrorist activity. I did check that we hadn't arrived at the 1st April.
Hmmm - given that in recent months I have posted the Clash song "I'm so bored of the USA" and a couple of Dead Kennedy songs on Facebook I may as well choose another holiday destination for the foreseeable future...
Anyone who uses the expression "bored of" instead of the grammatically correct "bored with" should be banned from any travel in case their genes spread.
