I’ve pulled the insulation back about a foot all round. See if it works. Otherwise am going to have to get some air vent tiles fitted. There’s 3 layers of insulation up there. An old wasp nest and an old bird nest. Weirdly down one end of the loft there was loads of twigs under the insulation. Like some old mad bat insulated the roof with shrubbery. Was that a thing in the past? The old girl who lived here was here her whole life. She was in her 90’s when she died 5 years ago.
Was weird thought like a birds nest at first then realised there were masses of twigs all under the insulation.
No, the area is greater and offers only around the same insulation values and costs more. The problem is people tend to do it themselves without thinking about ventilation.
You only need 200mm at most to insult your loft at most but it could be possible to need more air flow but that would depend on the pitch of your roof.
It’s quite a low pitch. It’s a double fronted Victorian cottage. Will see how it goes. Just finished the painting of hall stairs and landing. Had enough now. The Mrs is wall papering.
ex-girlfriend had two of those. ****ing absolutely bonkers dogs. So much hard work, hope you know what you've let yourself in for ?
