I hope living in the past doesn't become a theme here.

Good luck, chances are very low as i see. Always that next game after international break is very diffucult. Double that effect for current Hull City. One point or one goal will be a miracle. Let's see...

This exactly. Not sure we've ever had a result after an international break.

    Jethro Tull brilliant song

Happy and I'm smilin', walk a mile to drink your water
You know I'd love to love you and above you there's no other
We'll go walking out while others shout of war's disaster
Oh, we won't give in, let's go living in the past
Once I used to join in, every boy and girl was my friend
Now there's revolution but they don't know what they're fighting
Let us close our eyes, outside their lives go on much faster
Oh, we won't give in, we'll keep living in the past
Oh, we won't give in, let's go living in the past
Oh no, no, we won't give in, let's go living in the past

International break came at a good time in case of Birmingham , they would have been dying to get on with playing Ipswich at home , probably a bad time in case of Villa tho , 2 bad results for them and now had time to regroup

    TEAM NEWS
Nigel Adkins has plenty of competition for places across the park, and the fact that ten players have been away on international duty in the last ten days will also come into the equation as Adkins looks to set his side up for the clash with promotion-chasing Villa.

Adkins remains without long-term injury victim James Weir, while the Head Coach also had an update on Moses Odubajo, Stephen Kingsley and Evandro who are all on the comeback trail.

“Evandro and Moses are still injured and have had little set-backs in their recoveries which is a shame,” confirmed Adkins. “However, Stephen continues to progress nicely.”

Jonathan Kodjia returns to the Villa matchday squad for the first time since October this weekend, whilst full-backs Alan Hutton and Axel Tuanzebe are also available again after more than a month of absence.

Neil Taylor and Glenn Whelan are also back in regular first team training. However, Bruce says the match may come slightly too early for the duo.

    PRE-MATCH TALK
Nigel Adkins wants his side to be at the top of their game when they face Aston Villa.

Villa have lost their last two games and Adkins believes the Tigers must be ready to face a team that will be determined to show a reaction.

"All of our focus is on this next game which is an important one against an Aston Villa side that is doing everything it can to get back into the Premier League," said Adkins.

“It’s a game that also sees the return of Steve Bruce to the KCOM Stadium, a man who did fantastic things for this football club, and I’d like to think that he will get a great reception because he was pivotal in the most successful period in this club’s history.

"Villa have lost their last two games, so they will be looking for a reaction to that and it’s a big game.

"I’m sure it will be a great spectacle, and we have to make sure that we’re at the top of our game for this one."

While Villa will be looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats, the Tigers will be looking for a reaction themselves after the disappointment at Birmingham a fortnight ago with Adkins targeting a consistent run of performances in the final eight games of the season.

"We put our own little league table together for the final 16 games of the season and we’re doing well in that with four wins and a draw from eight games so far," continued Adkins.

"Our form has been good. Yes, there have been one or two games when we haven’t performed as we would have wanted and haven’t got the results that we wanted, but more consistently we have performed well.

"It’s about controlling the controllables, the old adage, and focussing on our own performance. A lot of things will go on around and about us, but we have to block that out and just focus on what we need to go and do."

    OPPOSITION VIEW
Steve Bruce believes his Aston Villa side must now win six of our final eight Sky Bet Championship games to be in with a chance of automatic promotion.

The claret and blues' hopes were dented before the international break with back-to-back defeats at the hands of QPR and Bolton. And Bruce is now targeting at least six wins, with Cardiff one of those eight remaining opponents Villa have left to play.

He said: "We are capable of a winning run. We have just done it. We are probably going to need to win six of our last eight but it is possible. We can’t give up.

"I am just disappointed that we had given ourselves a wonderful opportunity and our last two performances in particular have not been up to standard.

"We’ve had a wonderful opportunity against QPR and Bolton. No disrepect to either of them, but we haven’t taken anything from them.

"But it is not over yet. That is for sure. We can’t give up. We just have to get on with it. We’ve lost two matches in three days and other teams are capable of that."

    STATS
The Tigers have only lost one of their previous 10 home matches in all competitions and claimed all three points on Aston Villa's last visit with a 2-0 win in February 2015.

Villa have not lost back-to-back away league trips to Hull since March 1970.

Abel Hernandez has scored six goals in just four home league appearances this season.

Ex-Tigers Robert Snodgrass has registered 13 league assists this season, the most by a Villa player since 2007/08 (Ashley Young - 14, in the Premier League).

Prior to this season, the last time the two sides met in the second tier was in 1987/88, with the Tigers winning 2-1 at home and Villa enjoying a 5-0 victory in B6.

    OFFICIALS
Andy Davies will officiate the Tigers' Sky Bet Championship encounter with Villa at the KCOM.

A Football League regular, Mr Davies has run the rule over 24 games so far this season, dishing out 88 yellow cards and five red cards.

This will be his first fixture involving the Tigers since taking charge of our 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in March 2016.

Davies will be assisted on Saturday by Geoffrey Russell and Timothy Wood, with Stephen Martin on fourth official duties.

    HISTORY
This will be the 33rd competitive meeting between these two sides. The Tigers have won six of those games, drawing eight and losing the other 18. In home games against the Villans, the Tigers have won five of 16 games in all competitions, with three draws and eight defeats.

    LAST TIME OUT
Jarrod Bowen scored his first goal for the Club as the Tigers came from behind to draw at Aston Villa in their 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship opener.

The hosts were the side before the break, but only had Gabby Agbonlahor's far-post tap-in after seven minutes to show for their dominance.

The Tigers improved after the break and spent large periods camped inside the Villa half, with Bowen deservedly levelling the scores just past the hour mark, sending a smart volley past Villa goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Why? How do you control uncontrollables? Or do you think everything is controllable?
