Seems a strange decision. I wonder what prompted it? Wouldn't have thought that she'd have any trouble getting another job. BT or BBC?
The odd part is Sky instructed their other presenters not to mention it on air, which considering Sky told her that her contract wouldn't be renewed makes me think she did the worst thing possible: point out she knows eighteen times more about football than any number of their ex-Mouser pundits, yet they get paid six times what she does.
Amazing coincidence that you should have posted this recently (I am catching up here having spent 11 nights in hospital), but one of things I was bought whilst in hospital was Martin Chivers autobiography and he writes about this match, and Alfie Conn sitting on the ball, saying that the Spurs players were not exactly pleased with him as winding up the Leeds players was not to be encouraged!
I hope that you're doing better. 11 nights is a long stay these days. The Leeds game was a peculiar night. It was a rearranged fixture, left over at the end of the season. Both Chelsea and Luton drew on the Saturday and we'd lost to Arsenal, meaning that Chelsea were down and our superior goal difference meant that a draw would save us and relegate Luton, who had gone on a run of 3 wins and a draw to come so close to staying up. A great attendance when crowds in London were definitely on the wane [probably apart from QPR] and a fabulous performance. A night to remember. Two years later, we found out what it felt like to fail but it was probably what we needed to rebuild...just.
Hope your recovery is going well mate .not a bad book to keep you from going insane in hospital and that leeds match brings back great memories
Very best wishes to Ray Wilkins in his fight to pull through his current health problem. One of footballs nice guys.
He's had a heart attack and he's in critical condition: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43601801 Hope he pulls through.
Zlatan is still box office (when he chooses). Came on in the 71st minute for his LA Galaxy debut. Scored a 35 yard screamer and then an injury time winner. Soccerball, bloody hell.
Does anyone know why the Newcastle match has not been rescheduled yet? They have had 4 weeks to sort out a date...it was cancelled 5 weeks ago after we beat Rochdale and we were knocked out of the CL 4 weeks ago so we know what week days are free so am confused as to what the delay in picking a date is.
They are probably waiting for the result of the cup semi in order to choose the most awkward and inconvenient day for us should we reach the final.
That is very sad, 61 is no age. May have been overrated as a footballer, but a true lover of the sport and seemed a decent man.
Shocking news, very sad to hear it. I actually think he was underrated, England were always better for his presence.
Very shocking R.I.P Butch Poor quality footage, but not the goal Better here http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43644529
Probably not the time to debate his merits as a footballer, just thought his play lacked ambition. And he kept Hoddle out of the England team too often. Doesn't diminish the sadness of the news though.
