  1. I'd personally play this -

    -------------Krul--------------

    Simmo---Taylor---Coloccini--Raylor/New LB

    ------Cabaye------Tiote------

    Jonas------Marveaux----Obertan

    -------------Ba/Best----------------

I think it's time Jonas was played in his proper position. His crossing is far better on his right foot, and there's no reason to keep him on the left side. His shooting isn't that great.

Jonas can deliver world class balls at times, but it may be hard for him to put a consistent amount in because he's on his weaker foot while attempting one most of the time.

I'd play Marveaux in the CAM role. He's got cracking pace, but to be honest, from what I've seen, most of his good play has come from playing passes and balls down the center or setting up runs for wingers from a central position. He's agile, a good dribbler and has decent balance and strength. He can do more damage running down the center IMO.

Obertan looks like more of a winger than Marveaux, so i'd play him in the left.

I hope Pardew gets rid of this target man ****e we've been playing recently. He may think that since we've gotten results so far that that means his target man system is working, but so far our strikers have been total crap, and the target man system has had nothing to do with our victories. It's come from moments of quality from unexpected places within the squad.

Although it doesn't matter where the goals come from, we can't rely on magic moments like this all season, we need a system that will get our strikers scoring, and a system that looks like it will trouble a defense. So far our strikers have been easy bait for opposition defenders, and our midfield and defense has won us the games.

We've got quality, we should start passing it along the ground, unless we know that balls in the air are a teams weakness, like Arsenal. Arsenal look weak vs target men and long balls in the air, so fair play to him for thinking about that.

But against the likes of Fulham, who have a very strong defense, with experience and quality, i don't fancy Ba and Ameobi's chances vs the likes of Hangeland, of winning things in the air.

Anyone else agree? I don't want to see another season of hoof balls up to Shola and Best. It worked with Carroll because Carroll won the ball 90% of the time, but Shola and Ba are weak target men that get dominated in the air by a decent pair of center backs.

Demba Ba looks quick and good on the ground, he's not a target man. We should stop smashing long balls up to him because he's quite obvious it's not going to work.

Agree with the team actually except I'd start Best over Ba. I think he offers more than Ba and you need a striker than can get in behind the defense and can hold the ball up when you play this formation, he can do both. With them three playing behind they can rotate all game. All three would be comfortable in either of the three roles and that could become a huge asset for Newcastle. If we signed Pieters and a striker it could be an exciting time for Newcastle, especially when HBA comes back.

I hope you are right about the target man, it was ****e against Scunny.

I like the look of your team, but I'd play Best, simply because he justified his place in the team in the CC, but Ba was ****e then and ****e against Arsenal. He has to earn his place in the team, not get it because on paper he's the best we've got.

I'd also like to see Sammy in the team, for the same reason as Best, but even more so. Possibly play him instead of Obertan, and have him and Marveaux, and Marveaux and Jonas, swap positions to pull the defence apart. I also think that Sammy's style would decimate Fulhams old defence and midfield.

  6. It'll be interesting to see who we pick, but we're playing 4-4-2 with Shola and Ba or 4-4-1-1 with Shola upfront, i'll be pissed off.

  8. This is what i've been saying, but people slaughtered me last night for saying it! Ba has been ****e so far!

But of course to other people that means i think Ba is ultimately ****e and should never be played again...

Players should be picked on how they've proven themselves so far in the team, not just because we've just bought them. However, i agree that Ba should be given more chances. <ok>

Best has proven himself better and more effective than everyone else upfront <ok>

I want us to use the same formation like against Sunderland.

    Replace Barton with Obertan.

  10. Surely not Shola upfront again?

Best to start, Sammy as "impact sub" (at least until he gets a few appearances under his belt)?

Ba : He's fasting and it seems like it's affecting him so no.

    Mclovin : No.

    Best : No.

Shola for me , I might be unpopular with this choice but he held the ball up well against the mackems and if he can do that on Sunday and get Obertan and Jonas involved we're in with a chance.

Agree with Tash. Hangeland/Hughes/Sendorous(sp) will own Ba/Ameobi/Best in the air.. so I say we play something similar to Tash's style. Enough of this ''hoofball target man ****''.. it didn't work against Scunny so it won't work against Fulham who are hard to break down. We should start playing it on the deck in a good technical way. Cabaye and Tiote in the middle. Jonas/Obertan and Marvo as the three attacking trio behind a agile striker.. like Best for example. The ''trio'' could also rotate regularly to give Fulham's defence something to think about. Also they aren't really the quickest of defences so we should expose there lack of pace.. especially with Riise injured now. <ok>

Firstly, Jonas is a LEFT WINGER, and secondly, Raylor will need Jonas infront of him to track back

Marveaux won't start, it was his first competitive game yesterday and he played the full 120 minutes. He'll be bench at most i'd have thought.

  17. He held up the ball well... until we walked it out of play or was offside... <doh>

His goal scoring record speaks for itself, goals is what matters and Best has a better goals to games ratio in our squad in the PL.

  18. Jonas isn't a ****ing left winger. His strong foot is his right foot, he played RM until he was moved to the left on our side and was only kept there because of his partnership with Jose.

His shooting on his right isn't good enough to justify keeping him on the left.

He could potentially put in more consistent deliveries if he's put on the right, it's worth a try at least, and if i'm wrong i'll eat humble pie, how's that sound?

To be honest I'm pretty sick of hearing that just because he scored a hat trick against last season's poorest side : West Ham.

If it was up to me , we would have a new striker up front (obviously) or Sammy but I doubt that will happen.

And Shola did OK against the mackems , better than any of our other strikers did against Scunny.

After Best's performance yesterday definatly not! The guy looked dreadful..

Aslong as we have Raylor in the squad it will be a 1-0 win from a free kick..<ok>
