Nothing would eclipse Rickie as our best business

MLT not counting as business as he was a freebie.

Totally agree. However, if Charlies goals save us, he would have earned us more than Rickie's two promotions. In fact, we could put him out to pasture and not worry about his wages or pending winter injury! <laugh>

Lanzini said to be not badly injured, but unlikely to start on Saturday.

I do like Hoedt. Ok a couple of his howlers have led to goals but he gets stuck in and always acknowledges the fans. Think he could be really good if we stay up and keep him.

Before the B'mouth blunder, he looked really good. But mistakes have crept in since. Like his attitude though. A little more concentration needed, but a good addition to the first team.

I wish people (not necessarily you) had the same opinion about Maya. I think he's better than Hoedt and has been the consummate professional in his time here.

......not forgetting he won us the penalty against Hammers at ours. Be good having him back again.

Long time David Gold advisor Whit. Le Blower, realising his boss is about to go down for tax fraud, has revealed today, to the Southern Echo, that there were a few unpublished prerequisites to West Ham taking over the London Stadium. Apparently Whit let his mate Matt Le Dossier know that if West Ham were relegated or their attendance dropped below 50,000 they would be stripped of their stewardship of the stadium and would have to ground share with Leyton Orient. Matt said he didn't think this would affect the outcome of the match on Saturday because Saints were gonna whoop their sorry asses anyway!

Been saying for a while that I genuinely feel that he could end up being the difference for us this season. Not having him being better value than Rickie though.

Will take something special for that to be eclipsed but then I'm a right sentimental bastard :)

If Austin was to score a winner at Wembley in May though then I might reconsider ;)

Sentiments aside, the money is far bigger now. If, big IF he keeps us up, that 4M will go down in history.

I personally think there's an argument to be made that Maya is our best CB currently. I like Wes and think his ceiling is certainly higher but he's not the full article yet for me particularly in regards to adapting to the PL.

The issue is that as much as I've always liked Yoshida, I've always felt that he's best alongside a dominant partner (like Virgil/Jose) and he struggles if it's him that's expected to play that role. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in soon in place of Jack though.

Generally speaking if we do end up going down then failing to bring in a centre back in January will have played a huge part imo.

NBC have wised up to how popular premier league football is coming along in the states and have now a Gold package that costs $50 a year to watch the games. not being shown on the regular channels, they removed the overflow channels we had last season. I have Direct TV for home and use the app when I am on the road. Not sure this helps but I am happy with the app, and another reason I need Saints to stay up, so I can continue watching them live. I did purchase the gold package.

    Thanks.

I have paid (well my daughter paid :) ) for NBC Sports Gold - this has most our games on. It is just under xfinity I could also use the main NBC Sports app. It seems now I need to use the DirecTV app to view stuff on there. Not a real issue, I just prefer the NBC app :)

I must admit, the app is actually quite good - with my VPN it works flawlessly and I can watch all the stuff they have bought too :)

I'll be coming out to Atlanta to to see my new Grandson in late May - you still there? We should meet up for a beer and chat about football with a round ball :)

Austin is just what we need right now - he`s naturally confident, and won`t let the pressure get to him. Pity he won`t be entirely match fit yet. When he is, I don`t see Carillo getting a start.

You mention Carillo not getting a start; even if we stay up l just how many of the current first team will be considered first team starters for next year if there was a choice... which about sums up the average nature of the squad. I suppose its a sad indictment of our squad that we hang our hats on Charlie Austin as a potential saviour for us. I have alot of sympathy for Carillo: his record before joining us was not encouraging; averaging 1 in 5 goals per game was not likely to carry him far in the EPL and was playing so isolated under MP2. He, however, will not be the only one shown the exit in the future - whenever that might be. I think the off season at St Marys will be equally challenging as the playing time this season, relegation or otherwise.

Who knows, Carillo may yet come good , and I hope he does - but we haven`t got time to wait this season. I haven`t seen anything in him to suggest it, however. As for the rest of the squad, I think they have all showed that they can produce on the big stage at some time or other - getting them organised and fired up at the same time is the issue - and that is ultimately the managers job. Carillo hat trick it is on Saturday then !

Echo article talking to Redmond, notably about fans booing him and being dropped by Pellegrino. I have always felt there is a seriously good player in Redmond waiting to come out. Under Puel and his style, we needed a player to grab hold of the game and add a bit of flair....Nathan showed flashes that he could be that man, but was not consistent enough or other parts of his game let him down. He seemed to coast and slid even further under MP2. I truly believe that he could be an important player for us....under the right manager. I'm hoping Hughes is that manager....up to Nathan to take the change of regime as an opportunity to shine.

He's certainly been the consumate, professional, that's true.

I think Hoedt and Stephens will keep improving, individually and as a pair. They are both young, and young CBs make mistakes, that's inevitable. I wouldn't drop either for Yoshi, but he's a more than adequate third choice.
