I'm sure this has gone down well... https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/27/opinion/john-paul-stevens-repeal-second-amendment.html In other news, it's hilarious to see Tommy Robinson's followers trying to get IAmTommy trending on Twitter in the wake of him being permabanned due to being nothing more than a troll with a following.
Meanwhile, on Facebook... please log in to view this image Of course the usual defences of "It was a joke!" and "Freedom of speech REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" followed when the post was reported - only for the admin to shut down the page anyway, which may or may not have had something to do with the post being forwarded to the police.
The irony being that he's not Tommy. Stephen Christopher Lennon is probably too long for Twitter, though.
The fact they couldn't bring themselves to use JeSuisTommy because that sounds foreign is quite amusing too...
I see the head of the Parole Board has been hung out to dry, sorry "resigned". He was on the radio this morning explaining that he was effectively sacked. The head of the PB did not have any control over the decision in the case that got him fired. He's basically had to take responsibility for what others under him have done. This is I suppose correct thing to have happened, although it would be nice if MPs held themselves up to the same degree of responsibility. The ex-head also said that there were mistakes by other departments too, but clearly thought that the PB were being hung out to dry, presumably to offset the ire of the public / media. My main point is that whichever government figure told him to resign (Justice Secretary?) then they had better hold themselves up to the same level of scrutiny.
The obvious candidates are either... David Gauke, Justice Secretary David Lidington, Minister for the Cabinet Office and Justice Secretary between 11th June 2017 and 8th January 2018 (Worboys release was signed on 4th January) Amber Rudd, Home Secretary The Dire Leader On the subject of the Dire Leader, she has said that post Britait she will bring the UK closer together...this being the same Dire Leader who has publicly supported her political secretary Stephen Parkinson after he publicly outed a whistleblower in a blatant attempt to intimidate him into silence, actions which I am sure will bring the disparate communities of Britain further together!
Suppose the Parole Board had a list of other alleged offences that were not those used in the conviction of Worboys, and the guy said "wasn't me" . Should they have released him ?? If he had said there were other offences, he is hardly going to be released is he, given the nature of the offences. The PB decision should have been : release, subject to the CPS confirming very low confidence in successfully prosecuting any of the other alleged offences. I assume the CPS are going to try to prosecute some of those cases now ...
It's also worth remembering that, after the initial decision to release Warboys was announced, it was very quickly brought up how several of his victims whose cases weren't included in the original trial were willing to bring fresh prosecutions against him. It's worth pointing out that the QC for the original trial (who also brought up the additional cases) has stated that Gauke bears no small amount of responsibility for systematic failures that led to this situation - although, as pointed out above, Gaulke isn't the only one who bears responsibility as he wasn't Justice Secretary at the time Worboys was granted parole.
And this is the stupidity of it. If a review/decision date of D was given for Worboys, then the procedure should be that some weeks before D, the CPS should be doing a nominal reassessment of prosecuting any of those offences. That means contacting the alleged victims to tell them of potential prosecution etc, but not indicating the reason is due to a planned parole hearing for the accused.
Gosh. Politics stinks. Then you think"well there's always sports" to think about until you hear of someone rubbing a cricket ball with sandpaper.....and that someone says sorry. He loves the sport!
I see our ex-chairman is doing his bit for proving that only complete dickheads who have no place in the political sphere can Apprentice judges...
Proof that it's possible for two people to make complete dickheads of themselves while talking about the subject, yet do so for different reasons. First we have Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham taking to Twitter to mock Parkland survivor David Hogg for failing to reach the GPA in order to get accepted to UCLA, which for some strange reason backfired so badly that several advertisers cut ties with Fox News before Ingraham announced she would be taking a week-long holiday effective immediately - which of course has nothing to do with advertisers dropping Fox News like a hot, faeces-covered stone the second one of their employees started publicly bullying somebody who survived a high school shooting for not getting good enough grades. Then we have Ted Nugent describe them as "soulless" - this being the same Ted Nugent noted for being rabidly pro-gun, making countless sexist, racist and homophobic comments over the decades his career has mystifyingly lasted, who notably **** his pants to avoid going to Vietnam (yes, really), and has a penchant for having sex with underage girls, so the odds of him knowing what in the name of ungodly **** a soul actually is are as minimal as his album sales in the past five years. And bonus point, the NRAzi Party have settled on their latest smear of the Parkland kids: that every single one of them at the March for our Lives were actually bullying Nathan Cruz at school and the whole campaign is them crying foul because Cruz, the poor innocent victim in all of this, fought back - although they seem to have trouble comprehending that their own argument explicitly say that Cruz somehow managed to cold-bloodedly murder seventeen people who weren't even the ones he was "justified" in shooting. That, Ted Nugent, is what a soulless person looks like.
Meanwhile, closer to home, Michael Gove is in a spot of bother with Guardian journalist Carole Cadwalladr... please log in to view this image Sarah Vine's probably writing her Mail hatchet job on Cadwalladr as we speak...
