Haha at work so not sure I'm going to be searching Nazis depiction of Jews. Will take your word for it. Not defending this mural specifically and I know corb is pro Palestine for sure but symbolism and pictures have been used throughout the ages and I hate that because the Nazis used something (this goes with words being taken for racism etc) then automatically everything is not out of bounds (including drawing pics of old bearded men with big noses)
Yes, it is an anti-capitalist statement - the Jewish caricatures were unnecessary, though. What bothers me is how and why has it become a means to beat Corbyn six years later?
I don't see it solving homelessness or radically curing the massive and self perpetuating inequality. I don't see it solving the lack of food, water and health care which affects over a billion people around the globe and I don't see that it has any intention to do so, so ultimately, what's the point.
From a neutral perspective, with no allegiance to either party (there may as well only exist two) that views our existing political and economic systems as destined to fail, I'd say he is a threat to the current establishment, and must be vilified accordingly in the minds of those who think him valid.
I dont think the City is going to solve world hunger or bring world peace I am saying that it contributes an enormous amount of money to the British economy which helps to make peoples lives better than their lives would be without it.
Ok, but I'm questioning why the systems we operate under only seek to marginally improve the lives of some people in select areas and why we don't reject such limited and unsustainable methods in favour of progressive alternatives which aren't based on power and wealth and top heavy inequality.
There has never, in the history of man, been a progressive alternative which is not based on power, wealth and top heavy privilege. It's part of our DNA, to strive and do better for ourselves and our family. Communism, socialism, they all revert to type after high ideals. However, if you disagree and can point out a precedent of what you're after, I'd be interested to see it. Tribes in the Amazon jungle that have never had contact with the outside world don't count!
Cos that's how society works mate. Rich get richer and the poor get poorer. It absolutely beggars belief that we talk about billons and billions of pounds passing through this city/country and yet people are still homeless, poverty stricken and have a health system stretched to the limit. Fat cat executives get bonuses bigger than a nurses life time of wages. Society is ****ed. Role models for kids are now plastic enhanced reality tv people with little to no talent. Schools are a wash with drugs and crime. What a world we ****ing live in. But the real serious issues are what colour passport we have or which politician said what and when. Rant over. Politics is one massive lie that us little people just accept and argue which lie is worse/better
Absolutely right. The word that springs to mind continually is absurd. Poverty, inequality, corruption, war etc etc are the outcome of the systems we use. We moan and moan and work out which door to choose to enter the slaughter house, but ultimately, we end up in the same place. However, there has to come a time when either the whole thing implodes and we are no more or we somehow manage to make a unified decision to radically change direction. It's one or the other. See my reply to goldy, coming up shortly.
From this post, my understanding is that you know Jeremy Corbyn on a very personel level so i will not comment further on it as I've never even met him.
First point of thought is regarding 'it's in our DNA'. I wonder whether that's true, or if it's a case of society perpetuating behaviour. Immoral, criminal behaviour or that which drives us to put ourselves before others, as you say, can be seen throughout history, regardless of the structures in place. What drives that behaviour? I'd suggest the desire to either simply survive or, in some cases, to obtain as much power and wealth as possible, at the expense of others. We know that the planet could provide us with all the energy we need from solar, wind, wave, tidal, thermal etc power. All totally renewable, no negative environmental effects. We know that we can provide enough food for the entire population of the world, with no negative effect. We know that we can provide enough clean water for everyone through desalinisation, with no negative effect. Resources are abundant, and continually sustainable, scarcity is unnecessary. Poverty, starvation, war and division are choices. The common theme preventing all of the above is money. Once energy needs are met, there is no longer a problem that requires a solution and hence, no profit to be made. Once scarcity evaporates, there is no longer a market in which to be competitive, hence, no profit. If there is no longer an opportunity to make a profit at the expense of someone else's perpetual debt, what is the need for money? Everything we need still exists, demand and supply are equal and cause no detriment to the planet. The waving goodbye to money sees with it the disappearance of vast amounts of crime, caused by inequality, the need to put yourself before the rest, there's enough for everyone, the need for such governance as we see today, we operate as a unified planet, with no pursuit of power and wealth, it no longer exists. Ideas of technological advance are voted for, rather than individuals with mental health issues and delusions of superiority and the need for dominance. Over generations, the 'it's in our DNA' argument is never mentioned again as the nurturing, higher stage society we've created sees us go from strength to strength as a civilisation, whilst technology frees us from mundane tasks exchanged for the privilege of simply surviving. We are free to explore our individual and collective potential, with no danger to our very existence, but only in a world where we reject the man made concept of money.
I think it could have something to do with him being a f22kwit. Seriously he has made mistake after mistake. In the last few weeks he has really shown himself in a bad light. He is not PM material. Agree May and Bojo do some silly things but nothing as bad as him. The bloke is finished anyway.
But he isn't PM so what's it matter? Concentrate on the ****wits that are actually in charge. Ive nothing against Corbyn, I have no need to think positively or negatively about him as Labour are not in power. My point is, dig a little and every politician will have some form of skeleton in their cupboard. There are millions of more serious issues that need addressing in society.
Just out of interest what has Corbyn actually done or said? I don't really follow politics. I used to but as I get older and wiser I see through the bullshit.
I have no love or hate for Corbyn but let me get this right.....if I can. He speaks out against antisemitism in his party. Surely better than backing it. He says the Russian incident points to Russia but it still has to be proven. Again totally sensible in my opinion. Now as stated before, I don't know him so therfore can't comment on whether he's saying something but thinking something else. I can comment on the words hes factually quoted before some media outlet twists it to something he didn't actually say. Then the foolish 'us' read what we want to read and believe what we want to believe. It happens all the bloody time. It's quite boring, condescnding and blatantly making untruths a headline to suit an agenda.
