I hope that this may be helpful for any Sunderland fans travelling by road to Derby for the game on Friday 30th March. Parking is available for away fans on two sites (100 and 400 yards from the stadium) at £6 per car/van (sorry no coaches).

Presuming that most will eventually travel via the M1, I would advise that you leave at JCT25 to avoid congestion through the city centre (via the A38).

Travel towards Derby on the A52 (Brian Clough Way), and about one mile past the Spondon/Asda exit is the slip road to PRIDE PARK. Take care because after the sharp bend there is a pedestrian crossing and roadworks (for the redevelopment of the Fireplace Workshop which can no longer be used for parking).

Go past the North end of the stadium to the 3rd island, and turn right into RIVERSIDE ROAD. About 60 yards on the right is the FRENGER SYSTEMS car park, which is handier for the elderly and less able fans.

For those who may want to eat/drink before the game, continue along Riverside Road and use PRIDE VETERINARY CENTRE car park which is the last unit on the left hand side and is handier for the away friendly hostelries. When leaving this car park after the game I would advise that you turn left and left again going round the block and back towards the stadium. If you turn right be prepared for excessive congestion.

I hope that this helps - have a safe journey.

Don’t forget to visit his brothers barbers before the game, and his cousins restaurant afterwards at a discount.

I was just trying to be helpful to fellow football supporters, obviously your club has it's fair share of cynics.

Yeah, yeah, I'm an 81 year old entrepreneur.

I have been doing this for some 10/11 years on various forums and fortunately most clubs' fans are appreciative, some such as yours seem to read into my posts situations that are non-existent, you line up alongside Millwall, Leeds and the Red Dogs at the other end of the A52.

I normally update if there are roadworks or anything else that may affect your journey, I won't be doing that on this thread.

To be fair mate I think people are just having a bit of a joke and they do appreciate the effort.

As a Sunderland fan trust me if we don't laugh we'll cry.

Don't take it the wrong way mate.

They're a good group on here, well schooled in gallows humour.

They're just bitter and twisted souls lost in a maelstrom of absurdity inflicted by an owner who's just really really bad.

Either that or they're just cynical gits!

Come to think of it, you may be on to something ;)

I'm sure that there'll be quite a few who will appreciate your updates mate! <ok>

Thanks, actually there is a roadworks update. The A52 between the Pentagon Island and the A5111 Raynesway (including the Pride Park slip road area) is at present restricted to one lane on each carriageway, and this morning the Highways Agency indicated that they will revert to 2 lanes over the Easter weekend, including Friday. I hope that this helps.
:emoticon-0105-wink: Agent Rowett has got the snow machines on standby in case our injuries to key players are not cleared up by matchday.<ok>

You are aware that you could put your youth team out and still get a result?!

    "£6!!! What a rip off.."

That tells me that he may well be promoting his own business interests, Whitey. Perhaps we should take his advice about directions and roadworks, but find our own places to park . . . . like we've always done :emoticon-0105-wink:

    You're so cynical, Gordon.

Just wait till we play at the MK Dons next season (if they stay up).

League 1 game - £8 parking unless you can get there early doors and pretend that you're shopping at M&S!

Good luck to anyone hoping to find parking around Pride Park.

You'll still need a bus or taxi once you find a space. Best take the guy's advice and cough up.

For those who may have previously parked on Meadow Lane, Albert Road and other residential roads on the other side of the A52, these roads are being monitored by the police and local residents.

Unfortunately most of our better U/23 and U/18 players are out on loan helping Swindon, Shrewsbury and Bradford on their way to promotion.
