I have not read what Heather McKinlay wrote, but unless she has evidence then I think it is completely wrong to accuse Reams or anybody else of racism. During my time at ITTV I read many negative things written about Chris Powell's time as Charlton Manager, some of which I thought were fair comment and some of which I thought was very unfair. As somebody who admires Chris Powell and what he achieved, I could not understand the strength of feeling against him from some other members. But not once did I ever read anything posted by Reams or any of the other prominent ITTV members which was in any way racist. I'll admit I am pretty out of touch with what is being said these days on ITTV, but I don't believe people change that much. Accusations of racism should never be made lightly, and never without evidence. Unless HM can prove what she is saying I think the accusation should be withdrawn and an apology offered.
I don't like the Grand National.... not because it's in Liverpool.... but because it's a poor race where far too many horses die.
You can yer midget. McKinlay is insinuating that ITTV members don’t want Powell back as manager for racism -related reasons. They (CAST) are in denial that he is a fvcking average manager!
As far as I can see she didn't actually name anybody.... it is just members 'in another place' have assumed she is talking about them for some reason.
Flinging accusations of racism about is bad enough, but if the wording is so vague that it allows the accuser to claim they have been misinterpreted should their supposed target call them out, that is even more shameful. If somebody has a problem with another person or group they should come out and say it plainly and clearly. Insinuations and sarcastic remarks are the weapons of cynical politicians and cowards. I'm no fan of Reams, but if somebody is using vague references to him or his forum being racist without the courage to step up and name him, that is completely wrong and it only reflects badly upon whoever is doing it. I would say exactly the same thing if it was anybody else or any other forum being smeared in such a disreputable manner.
Reams hatred of Powell has nothing to do with race, or football for that matter - The main reason he publicly hates Powell is because going up against certain forums/fans suits his self serving agenda. He's still sulking over the two games he attended that season, Dagenham & Redbridge and Sheffield Utd - Blimey how would he have handled some of the games in the 70's. When opportunity knocked, and even though he was publicly slating him on his forum, he was more than happy to get his selfie with 'useless cvnt' Powell
All a bit silly. I can see the reason they'd be annoyed on ITTV - no one wants to be called racist. Though given some of what has been posted in the past on there, talk of lawyers is a bit bizarre. And on the other side, I haven't read what was posted on CL, and really can't be bothered to, but to dismiss anyone who doesn't want CP as manager as a racist is frankly embarrassing. After a good day like yesterday, Charlton fans still squabbling is just another day at the office. Good work by all concerned.
I refer the board to my comments earlier in the weekend. Some are more interested in internal personality squabbles and a bitchfest than the goings on at your club.
The comment from Heather Mckinlay was wrong. She is inferring that Reams is a racist. He is a lot of things but I don't think he holds racist views. I thought I would never stick up for Paul May, but I suppose there is a first time for everything. I must be mellowing, what with us winning and a Takeover hopefully around the corner.
I think everyone knows, and has known what's been going on under Duchatelet, the difference is some stood by and supported the regime for their own personal interests, and others protested because they wanted a better Club. The fan divisions on Forums are not all that important anyway, attendances at The Valley are...and they ultimately will tell us if we're going forward.
This post is from ITTVs Northstandpieeater. " But in the past you have reffered to a Charlton staff member as a 'Spanish halfbreed' in a post dated Sep 16 2012 10:30pm. Id love to know how the term 'halfbreed' can be used in a non racist manner?" The trouble with Paul May is that he flip flops so often that he makes himself look an idiot. How can you take the moral high ground by saying that someone has called you racist when you have previously called a staff member a Spanish half breed?
