I didn't want to play my trump card yet - I can drop that bombshell at a later date. It wouldn't have been fair on the other candidates if I'd started name dropping people like Ides as nobody can compete with that. As it turned out, I aced the technical test and project management discussion and the interview itself was with my current team leader and his manager, both of whom want me to take the role. The third person on the panel just happened to be someone I had coffee with last week, and I've always got on well with her...it should be a done deal, but any appointment needs to be ratified by the University HR department which can't be influenced by the IT department apparently. It's just a waiting game now, but I've got Ides as my secret weapon just in case

I think it's funny how when everything should make it simple (if not easy) to negotiate an interview most of us still get a little nervous in the moment. A little stress is a good thing though, I think.

You're right, but after some of the stuff that's happened in my life, a little stress is like a holiday to me. No stress is an undiscovered country.
I'm hard on myself, so tend to set the bar pretty high regarding my own performance - luckily other people expect me to have human failings :emoticon-0100-smile

The word Hero is used to frequently IMHO , But he was .

I hope it does not have a negative impact of the person he saved .

Sounds like the Beast from the East is returning for Easter. Temperatures forecast to fall as low as -5 in the South.

    So .

There you are , Mrs J is having a nap , with Purdey and Toby on the bed .

I am in the little room surfing the net .

Someone knocks on the front door *

    * By this I mean , neighbour loses control of her car and Ploughs into the front of our little bungalow , Thankfully the driver is OK , she is elderly and suffers from

    Parkinson's .

She didn't have the strength in her leg to apply the brakes . Like her son said ( and our first reaction ) could have been a hell of a lot worse !!!

We have structural damage !Structural damage .

Silly woman I'm sure she knows we have applied for and got permission for an extension ..not a bloody reduction <steam><steam><steam>

Thank goodness nobody was hurt! I suspect that’s the end of her driving career, poor lady. Hopefully you’ll get the insurance sorted out fairly quickly, and get your house repaired.

We have waited MONTHS for the extension to start , and now this !!!

We are of course very hacked off , but like her son said ( And I almost said it at the same time ) It could have been FAR worse , we are in a Cul-De-Sac , if it happened out on the main road with children etc going to school ?

    The mind shudders .

Hope you get it sorted out soon Jasper.

The very same thing happened where I am 2 years ago. I live in a cup-de-sac and one of our neighbours went through the front of the other neighbour's house. They had to move out for a year whilst the insurance rebuilt the front of the house as it was deemed unsafe to live in :(

As you say, could have been a lot worse.

I'm no expert , but I can't see us having to move out . Ironic though , the damage may be fixed before the extension .....

Hopefully you'll be ok. My neighbour's house only had a small crack in the wall, but I think it was where the crack was

Bad enough it was done, but worse that several players were involved in collusion.

We will glaze over when England's captain did something similar some time ago.

How very stupid they all must feel, as if it wasn’t going to be spotted by at least one of the cameras around the ground!
