We’ve just had a 29 year old provincial Belgian solicitor with a big bum and a Chief Scout who looks like Mowgli.

    So....yes :emoticon-0136-giggl

Yeah you’re right. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a straight forward takeover for once.

It’ll just be nice to have serious professionals back at the club - people who emphasise with our fans & understand English professional football. #novelidea

    Elliott being made chairman.

Forgive me for being sceptical but I would have put him down as a front man. Elliott does not have serious money.

Be careful people and give things 12 months.

Having said all that at least we'd have a Charlton man running the show.

Ask Ivor, he knows all that is going on behind the scenes.

Most people were very pleased when Duchatelet took over. That did not work out well.

Of course we have to be optimistic though.

Any meaningful results of a change in direction will take some time.

So many things have gone so wrong that no reasonable person can expect an instant turnaround.
Even if the team picks up some form and scrapes into the play-offs, it is still highly likely that Shrewsbury or Wigan would dump us out at the semi-final stage. Folks should not be too despondent if this happens, we all know the damage this season was done long ago.

I certainly won't be setting too much store by results at first, not even in the early months of next season.
What I am looking for is a better attitude from our new owners and management team. A willingness to be open and honest with fans, not the arrogance and stubborn refusal to learn and adapt that we saw from Duchatelet and Meire.

By mid August we will know how much investment the new owners have been able to make in our first team squad, and what their approach, strategy and targets are going to be for season 2018-19.
By Christmas 2018 we will know whether our next manager is doing a good job or whether he is struggling. And if things do not go so well at first, we will learn about the character and attitude of our new owners. Will they recognise issues and try to deal with them, or will they deny reality and blandly insist that all is well as the outgoing regime did for years.

Charlton fans gave RD and KM nearly two seasons before the incompetence and lies and insults becaume too much to stomach.
I hope that we are willing to give our new owners at least as long to try to repair some of the grave damage that Duchatelet has done. In many respects we are a basket case right now, and that will take time to put right.

Agree with all of the above.

The Belgians only lasted 12 months before it went sour.

The Watford 5-0 in January 2015 saw the first protests. Remember the fan on the train with squirrel face?

He doesn’t have serious money, but could be placed in a position of power on behalf someone who does.

AHLL was the first to call out the Belgians, almost immediately if I recall. So I await the new owners getting his seal of approval<ok>.

This is how I see it, and without knowing too much about PE, it sounds a fair decision. Imagine having a football type as chairman - someone who understands the game. We might even get a structure based on people who understand football, not law students from Belgium and (cough) Tony Cojones. Maybe a director of football and a manager. A bit over heavy on personell? Look at how we've fared doing it on the cheap for the last few years.
I just hope we can all be patient and give it a chance as the possibilities of instant success after the damage Duchatalet has wreaked are very very slim.

If Paul becomes chairman then there shouldn’t be a need for a DOF, but I guess that might not stop the new owners wanting one in place.

PE’s very media friendly and enjoys that side of his work, so I’m intrigued to see where he’ll position himself in regards to communications. He’ll need to hold back and let the manager be the mouth piece IMO.

your mate Rick's just tweeted :

    Rick Everitt‏@airmanbrown 39m39 minutes ago

Chris Powell was Aussie group’s first choice as new #cafc manager and departing boss Karl Robinson got no pay-off, reveals today’s South London Press.

    This would be great!

One of the things Roland actually got right, even if it was for the wrong reasons, was sacking Powell. Not exactly pulling up trees at Southend is he

Rick Everitt is busy puffing his somewhat bloated chest out today - needlessly bitching about Robinson

    They’d lost like 8 in 10 before he joined. They’ve lost 1 in 10 since I believe.
