Unbelievable ... with artistic talent like that they should be an A* at A Level ... if they could paint it too
Please stay on topic, Bambs! This is a serious issue. The West Ham 5 have been persecuted by pornographers, and they need a mass debate. They do not need your juvenile comments.
I'll try to, Quentin, .... but the real magic in your threads normally stems from the thin veneer of football knowledge that covers your posts like poorly applied cling film ...
Why go onto the pitch to celebrate? What if 70 or 70,000 fans decided that they were going to celebrate goals by going on the pitch?
I can only speak for lower league games, but it used to be common place for supporters to enter the field of play, especially at the end of a game, no one ever used to see any harm in it, generally it was in good spirits and actually was meant as a good moral boast for the team and manager. Bradford and Hillsborough sadly reshaped the future and present day of our game. However, Bradford was caused through a discarded cigarette that fell through a wooden stand onto years of accumulated waste below. Hillsborough was caused through poor policing. Nether of these events had anything to do with the field of play other than actually to cause more deaths by fencing at the time. The root cause could be blamed on hooligans stemming back to 70's but again a majority of those problems were outside the grounds not inside them from a physical sense. Don't get me wrong i personally do not want to see people on the pitch, i certainly do not want to see them disrupting a game. But protests happen at all sporting events of one nature or another, including horse racing and example of that would be Emily Davison (I'll let you do the research) if you don't know the history. The Premiership has moved to becoming a middle class game or certainly moving away from the poorer elements of society. Now i'm not for one minute suggesting the West Ham supporters can be held in the same comparison as what I have written but what i am saying is you should not remove the right to protest 'peacefully' - including entering the field of play in unusual circumstances. No one can deny what has happened to many a club is beyond shocking and only too often supporters put up and shut up sadly without a voice, or one that will be heard, hence extreme measure will occur on rare occasions. So it depends (without researching) why the West Ham supporters were protesting. I'm sick of going to sterile grounds and even more sick of it being priced to a level to accommodate super size stadiums. The problem is the media has always and still continues to do so, portray all football supporters as thugs. I once said many years ago that they will eventually even police terrace chanting and we all only know to well that time has arrived and it happens today, especially with the introduction of tv cameras scrutinising every corner of the ground. Was what the West Ham supporters did right, no, but should supporters be allowed to protest by entering the field of play without being issued with 'life bans' debatable, after all it is virtually impossible to implement over a period of time, so it's pointless words but one's that say to the fans quite clearly, to sit down and shut up...in my eyes that's not right.
Very well put brb. Football is certainly becoming more sterile and the higher up through the leagues the more this is seen. Standing at grounds is also becoming a big issue, with fans being told to sit down by the stewards far too often. Also I'd be surprised if anyone on here didn't know who Emily Davison was and the history surrounding her.
If someone at Twickenham runs on the pitch they tend to be pissed and naked and it’s taken in good humour. If done at a football match then it’s seen as ‘dangerous’ and then they get life bans - never heard of a life ban in Rugby
