Hardly the here and now though are ya? The here and now team is surely City. Nobody is envious of Spurs from rival quarters, possibly with the exception of Arsenal fans.

Yeah I'm sure they are not, just like I'm not envious of Stoke players hence not giving two ****s about their team getting dismantled and hoping Spurs can have a few of their players and manager.

Charlie Adam would fit in well at Spurs.

That's why I'm trying to open up some debate here...personally I think Gerrard in the sitting role is a master stroke with his skill set

And the most paranoid butthurt one would fit straight into Spurs' first team as captain.

I think you're just looking to shoehorn a player in who never won the league so it's easier to justify Kane going in.

The league has been littered with top class DM's, why you'd include a primarily attacking midfielder as DM is beyond me, any Liverpool fan will tell you that Xabi Alonso is the best DM they've had in the PL era.

He was better in the support role than the deeper role, had it all in his locker. It's only bitter Mancs that don't rate him. You wouldn't want a young Gerrard too deep as he could do so much damage further forward.

He has a slightly better goal scoring record. Phillips played in one of the worst ever premier league teams and an average mid table team. While he was playing at Sunderland he had a better record than Vardy currently has.

Did I mention he also smashed 30 goals in one season becoming the only Englishman ever to win the European golden boot?

It was more a perfect combination of Macherano as the DM and Alonso as a deep lying playmaker. Mascha was the better DM but Alonso was just a great football player.

I've never once said I didn't rate him, he just doesn't belong in the company of kings.

Because I believe he had an engine good enough to do both roles, the likes of me and Pep think outside the box. The best midfielders can do everything, tackle, ping 50 yard balls and find the Onion bag. Gerrard could do it all and run all day too.

He could never play that role. His lack of positional discipline was his worst trait. At times he was like a kid in the playground chasing the ball and leaving gaps for his teammates to fill. You can't have your DM heading over to the right wing before slotting in behind the striker as that's where the majority of the action is it and he wants to be in the game more.
