We should boycott this world cup. Not just for political reasons but also because the world cup was achieved through bribes and also because English fans will be in danger now moreso than ever.

I predict some fans will die as a result of organised fan violence.

IMO the russians will hoover up anyone bent on a bit of action.

They will want no trouble and any trouble there is will be state run trouble.

I would think you've a far higher chance of being arrested as a spy than attacked by a thug in the streets.

BTW I know the US have taken a strong stance on this one by sending panama in your place. We are not so high minded

Unless we get a particulary easy group, I doubt England will go beyond group stage anyway... There aren't many great England players at the moment. So boycotting will only miss out on three games.

Our main advantage is no more Woy.

True but there were strong indications many of them were state trained. If so, that control could work both ways.

He'll either tell them to be on their best behaviour to prove to world the ruskies are really just nice people or He'll have them goad the English fans so they can make a big show of arresting them and saying "look it's the English that are thugs!" (After they get multiple hidings of course)

Think any English fan going there in current climate is just a bit mental.

Think if you really wanted to hit the sponsors organising boycotts on the brand's would have quicker results.

Accepting Russia or Qatar ....we aren't drinking coke.

One of the few good things that came out of the latest gun issues in the US was the outing and pressure put on the companies associated with the NRA ..... almost all bailed within a week bevause their name was being associated in Twitter trends with children being murdered.

Something as concerted might work with world cup sponsors ..... organising that would be difficult I suppose.

It is not a good time to stage world cup in Russia, especially with the nerve agent poisoning in UK.

World Cup 2018: England's Nick Pope says it will be 'every man for themselves'
Burnley's Nick Pope says it will be "every man for themselves" in the fight to be England's first-choice goalkeeper at the World Cup this summer.

Pope has been called up to the international squad for the first time for the forthcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy.

The 25-year-old is joined in the squad by Everton's Jordan Pickford, Stoke's Jack Butland and Manchester City's Joe Hart, who is on loan at West Ham.

"I want it to be me," Pope said.

"It would be a massive honour to represent your country and to go to a World Cup."

Pope has kept more clean sheets and conceded fewer Premier League goals than the other three goalkeepers in Gareth Southgate's squad.

He only made his first top-flight debut in September - replacing the injured Tom Heaton - having joined Burnley from Charlton in 2016.

Pope does not think a lack of experience at international or European level should count against players when it comes to England selection.

"You have got to be hungry, greedy and have to push yourself," he added. "It would be a challenge I am ready to take on."

Well if it wasn't looking like you would ,at best, be foolhardy to go to the World Cup as an England fan Boris has ensured that it is now obviously dangerous.
The idea of comparing any Russian leader to Hitler is bound to inflame nationalistic feeling particularly considering the Russian losses in the "Great Patriotic War" .
