Valid point, but missing out on the playoffs will be our fault and our fault only due to the inability to hold onto leads and break down teams who park the bus, for example both Burton and Millwall 0-0 at home, and the Sunderland and Leeds game being 2-0 and 3-0 respectively. Blaming other teams because we may miss out by a few points is a petty excuse and ignores the fact that over 46 games we were not good enough to cement a top 6 place.
Tom that is exactly the point I was trying to make, if we lose our chance of a play off it's down to our seasons performances and we, our team take the blame, if we gain a play off place that's down to us, our team's success during the season, it's no good blaming 1 defeat and the loss of 3 points only or carping about a single game being postponed. It's our own success or failure over a season and it's of no consequence what another team achieves or fails over a single match, if Cardiff gain promotion it's soley down to their own success and good luck to them if they do.
So you'd be happy to have played fairly and honourably to achieve your points total but to leave a team who blatantly sought to take an unfair advantage pip you to a play off place.
No I would not, cheating little ****s,they need to be brought to book.Imagine us loosing a playoff place by 1 or 3 points.
Yes because the fact we've won 3 times in 14 league games is why we won't finish top 6, It's just making excuses blaming other teams and ignoring the very simple fact we weren't good enough over 46 games.
We can only beat what is put in front of us. We have drawn when we should have won - but we aren’t the only ones. If Derby have acted illegally and end up forcing us out of the playoffs then yes I will be very angry - like Sheffield United fans probably were when West Ham retained their premiership place at their expense illegally. Nothing we can do about it though.
I’m in agreement with Tom and Wiz on this in the fact that over 46 games should be the season. If we was to get in because Derby cheated then it’s not really on merit. I can remember a few seasons ago when Portsmouth was deducted 10 points, which put them in the bottom three. I was praying that we would not finish forth from bottom to be effectively that club that only survived because of the deduction and not on merit over 46 games. If it happens I won’t complain but prefer to do it on our own merit.
Huh?.......so on that basis if Derby got in because they cheated (your word), then they did it on merit? I don't think so. You're quite correct that final table positions should be down to a club's performance during the 46 game season, but that's not the principle being discussed here. The margin between 6th and 7th and the reason for it is one that can be influenced by off-field events over which you have no direct control. If you (or anyone else for that matter) finished just outside the playoffs and Derby remained just within them, the fact that they manipulated the situation on the weekend to avoid playing a game they didn't want to is the real issue. You can blame yourselves for your own missed "footballing" opportunities, but I doubt you'll feel so circumspect about your season should that happen.
For me,its the moral values and doing the right thing that is at stake here. We have shot ourselves in the foot on numerous occasions and frankly our form doesn't deserve a play off spot, but to allow teams to call off games because they have injuries should have a points deduction in my humble opinion. Didn't we have a game at Orient called off 3 or 4 years ago in L1 in similar circumstances when they had loads of injuries ? I also remember my Uncle taking me to see to Spurs v Liverpool at White Hart Lane around 1970 and Bill Shankly got that game called off for no real reason other than Liverpool had a lot of injuries at the time.
The prinsiple being discussed on here should be whether our next 4 games are winnable, to be honest I couldn't care less about Cardiff and it's crusade to save the Championship's honour by disgracing Derby's style, Bristol City FC is our name and it's their games I'm interested in, let us keep the thread on course. I don't care one scintilla about Cardiff, if they win promotion good luck to them, it means nothing to me, no disrespect but this is turning yet again into a big yawn. Now about the next 4 Bristol City games Barnsley, Brentford,Millwall and Birmingham, these games are far more important to Bristol City .
Barnsley - win, Brentford - win, Millwall - draw and Birmingham - win, 10 points, now that would be good.
You on another one of your petty crusades against visitors? This thread has nothing to do with Cardiff and no Cardiff posters have suggested it.
Don't you threaten me wizey - who the hell do you think you are? There's been no "crap" from me nor the other Cardiff posters on this thread just good realistic observations about your club and it's playoff chances. The Not606 forum welcomes "free and open discussion" between supporters of all clubs - if you try to censure that you'll be the one that's off believe me.
This is the last warning, anymore crap from you and you will be deleted and that is a fact, not a threat.
You’re twisting it. I said I’m of the opinion of Bristol City getting to the play offs based on merit. The Derby v Crapdiff is not of an concern to me other than a win or loss of the game when played. I don’t want to be the team that gets their on default. If Derby get a points deduction and it happens to be us who benefit great, but it won’t be my favoured outcome as opposed to they falter and we overtake them based on points won and lost on the field. Got to be honest with you lot you’re all starting to sound like Warnock. You’ve still got the game to be played so why not just wait and see if you win then?
