Yes. But the most from Meyler is still quite some below what Burnley should probably be looking for in a third consecutive season in the top flight. No offence to him but he is a limited player.
So what should they do? Buy somebody brilliant to sit in the reserves / dump an existing player in the reserves who isn’t happy there and causes a massive stink, creating friction and forming cliques in the dressing room? Sometimes fans just see ability and don’t understand the importance of a harmonious dressing room.
Why would they sign a reserve player, any signings should be challenging the first team. They don't need to shop in the bargain basement. Meyler will move to another championship club and almost certainly do well for them, and be happy playing week in week out. That will be the best move for him, and that's what he'll get.
Because numbers are important in times of crisis. Exactly as I said. The biggest spending club of them all couldn’t name a full bench earlier this season.
Meyler has failed as a Championship player this season, why would anyone want him as a Premier League player
As has been said, you don't just buy players to make up numbers, otherwise why would any ambitious player (which I like to think Meyler is) go anywhere? The incoming player has to add to the squad, otherwise it's just a waste of money. Burnley already have better central midfielders than Meyler in Jack Cork, Jeff Hendrick, Steven Defour and Ashley Westwood. Unless any of those are off in Summer, a move for Meyler wouldn't make sense as he isn't going to get in ahead of them. A harmonious dressing room is important, but you don't pay a footballer thousands of pounds a week to come in and be a character in the dressing room while not actually playing. They are paid to play.
I honestly don't think that's true, it's just a scapegoat for people to blame bad results on. No self respecting manager would ever let an owner pick the team. Ehab doesn't know anything about football anyway, we've seen plenty of evidence for that. Meyler hasn't been picked because he wasn't very good for large parts of this season and Irvine and Larsson have played better than him for the most part. If he wants back in the team, he needs to get back to how he was at the start of the season, or preferably back to how he was under Bruce.
Is he? I just don't think he's been good enough? Dawson and Grosicki both tried to engineer moves away, yet they have stayed in and around the first team.
Meyler is much more public with statements direct from him (usually through social media). Grosicki and Dawson aren’t The step could have been built by Ehab, Nigel...or Meyler
There's some differences between those three. Grosicki rarely does much, Meyler hasn't been that effective this season at all, and Dawson tries his best and has been has mainly done ok this season. All of them are likely leaving at the end of the season and have known that all season I expect.
Meyler should have played in most games available for and been the captain. Benched by a shockingly poor regime - top to bottom this club is rank - excludes 'most' of our own fans.
