I know of a fairly local lad who played in the PL and did that. He paid his brother to ferry him about and let him use the car the rest of the time. Kept his brother on the straight and narrow as he was mixing with a dodgy lot and stopped him making headlines for the wrong reasons.
Nobody's mentioned his mother, who was in the car with him. Unless she was as ****faced as he obviously was, what the hell was the old bint thinking - she should have driven or called a cab, and definitely not got in the car with him. Any other excuse is bollox.
Posters talk of him being ****faced, but was he? He looked shocked and bemused after quite a serious collision. Is being over the legal limit always noticeable to others - I think not. I wondered how long it would take to start judging the mother.
She might not drive, she might not have had her glasses, she might not be insured, it’s not her car. Nobody but him has responsibility.
Automated vehicles don't need to be perfect, they just need to be better than human drivers and so far us meatbags have set the bar pretty low.
I will probably get ****ing slated for this. There seems to be some holier than though on here. In no way do i condone drinking and driving. I will hold my hand up to doing it when I was in my teens and very early 20's. I'm late 50's now. and would NEVER contemplate it now. People who know me seem to think i'm a half decent bloke. I suppose what I am trying to say in a cack handed way is it was more luck than judgement that i din't crash. Or even worse run into some poor inocent bugger. Like I say I don't condone it in any way. I am just being honest. How many more on here are prepared to admit to drink driving? I will run for cover now.
