Under the clock was a humiliation. As all the classes had to pass you,you did feel an absolute prawn!!! But I can remember a "lady" teacher rapping my fingers over the side of a table. Bloody well hurt. I didn't tell mum.....there would have a war if she had been told!!!!
50 years of watching Spurs next October. Spurs 0 v 1 Sunderland. Stevie P's debut. I'm a bit older, obviously.
That's the year my dad went to his first away game - Everton. No motorways in those days, as you know. When I asked him how long it took to him to get there? He replied.... "Forever." He and I went on the stadium tour in 2015 and they asked when did you see your first game? "1947/48 but my grandad was at the 1921 Cup Final" he took over answering stuff from the hostess for about 10 minutes.
I remember the Spurs team using Henry Coaches but I couldn't imagine going all the way to Newcastle by coach.....did they? Hope granddad kept the programme! There's your holiday money.....?
Mentioning programmes,I bought an old programme from someone on Muswell Hill many years ago.Thames F.C. in the old Div 3 in 1930. Couldn't be many programmes around from that period owing to the East End being bombed to heck.....and other places too.
