I was at Fenners 1974-1988. Went through 13 lots of redundancies but still remained so left to travel the world. Best days of my working life ever and still go drinking with one or two from there.
My aunt used to work there and was always in trouble for being late. She used to tell them that the traffic was really bad due to the bridges being up. She finally got sacked when they found out she lived in the houses opposite the sports field.
I was there as an apprentice 1980 to 84: Many happy memories. I never survived the 13 rounds of redundancies though! Probably only the first 2. Once the impact of the miners strike kicked in on the conveyor belt orders the writing was on the wall.
The HDM headline. Oh so ****ing wrong. An agreement has been made for historic Hessle engineering firm Fenner PLC to be purchased by French tyre firm Michelin in a deal worth around £1.3bn. Hessle!!! FFS
I think what Left Said Fred posted could have something to do with it Chazz. 'There HQ is near the bridge in the Humber Bridge Office Park. Marfleet factory still open according to their website.'
