I would stop all that. I would make : 1. core election funding state-funded, and party allocation based on PR from results of the previous election of the same kind 2. political donations illegal by group entities (companies, trade unions etc) and limited to 50K pa per individual custodial sentence punishment for offenders (IR fishing trips for proof of wealth etc authorised) .
You do realise you are recommending a fair, transparent, level playing field process, don't you? Never gonna happen #toomanyvestedinterests
< fixed > "Never gonna happen #toomanyvestedinterests" Then the politniks have to tell me why not ...
The BBC have issued a high-pitched, hand-wringing denial that they Photoshopped the image of Jeremy Corbyn used on last Thursday's Newsnight to make him look like a communist Luckily there is no other evidence of Newsnight using obviously Photoshopped images of Corbyn to illustrate one of their stories... please log in to view this image
Newsnight Producer heads to Twitter to defend herself and her programme. Probably shouldn’t have used an example that basically proved the allegation Williamson image not colour filtered, image not softened and he’s shown in a nice dark blue suit, blue tie, looking ‘ministerial’...... But apart from that.......
What is happening around the political world? Britain and the USA in trouble.......and now we read that Putin won in a landslide. That's a laugh. Like Hitler, anybody opposes him and they will disappear.......Kushner Companies in deep trouble, although he sold his shares a while ago.He is knees deep in it. I still would like to know how,if Scotland stay in the EU,will they have to change to the Euro? Where will they get the money to change all that......and need a passport to get into England? What a mess!?
Do you mean Putin won because all the standing opposition candidates were accidentally brutally killed by a landslide that happened as they passed by ??
The Republican who resigned in disgrace carried Lamb's district by 40% of the vote. He was a family values enthusiast and anti abortion zealot who was caught urging his extramarital girlfriend to have an abortion.
Sounds exactly like the Trump family values, to be fair. Should've just denied everything and carried on.
So this "landmark" deal with the EU breaks down something like this * The deadline of March 2019 has now been pushed back to December 2020 * EU nationals arriving in the UK during the transition period will receive the same rights as always, a concession of the Tories' negotiating position * For the remainder of the transition period the UK will pay the EU the same amount of money as always, a concession of the Tories' negotiating position * For the remainder of the transition period the UK won't have any voting rights on EU legislation, a concession of the Tories' negotiating position * Any EU nation is able to fish in British waters until 31st December 2020, which is a concession of the Tories' negotiating position Is anyone else noticing a pattern here?
The walls are closing in on Cambridge Analytica: Expect them to disappear, lay low for a bit and then return under a different name and with their backers well hidden. Warrants and whistleblowers are not a good look for this sort of company.
But he resigned when his girlfriend published a letter taking him to task for his hypocrisy. He seems to have some sense of shame. Very old fashioned. Nothing became him in office like his leaving of it. Lamb's district consists of some well off southern suburbs of Pittsburgh (where my wife grew up) plus two Northern Appalachia counties. I found it a bit strange to hear it called "blue collar." It's actually a sampler of all the demographics that support Republicans--hence Murphy winning it by 40 percent. But let Trump and Junior make a few appearances there, and voila.
Coming out with the 'we were only testing you out' defence Trouble is, they will probably get away with it. Just hope there's a smoking gun in the Trump campaign that takes them all down......
Do you think Putin will visit the White House with a bit of nerve gas? Too late...they've got a lot of nerve and it's full of gas!!!!!
Out of curiosity, have you heard what some white supremacists alt right commentators have been trying to dupe people into believing recently? Several of them have reported "incidents" where groups of young, black men have attended screenings of Black Panther, and immediately afterwards attacked white people outside the theatre - with a complete lack of proof, names, quotes, or any idea that it's possible to notice that various people are reporting the exact same story almost word-for-word with just the name of the city changing. Funnily enough, this sounds almost exactly like "incidents" the Wail were reporting over 25 years ago where they were saying that women went to see Thelma & Louise and beat their husbands when they got home - again with the lack of evidence to back this up. It's like right wing ****wittery works in cycles...
Obviously more money to be made in the unsavoury side of politics, than providing the source data from which unsavoury campaign messages are constructed. All the Facebook stuff is just hypocritical self-righteous noise. < Physician, heal thyself >
Facebook's taking a bit of a beating today. Zuckerberg sold a load of stock just before the dip, too. Some of their staff turned up at the Cambridge Analytica offices earlier this evening. Not suspicious at all. They'll be there when the police turn up to raid it, which I'm sure they'll thoroughly enjoy.
Well if this debacle has taught the narcissistic opinionated herd of the true danger of the age of data science, then tis a debacle well worth having.
