No sympathy, he could have killed someone. Drink drivers generally reoffend as well. The selfish despicable low life bastards they are.

They need to throw the book at him. As someone I know who is in the police once stated - Have none for the road.

You know that the human body naturally produces alcohol right (though hopefully less than 10micrograms (sic) per 100ml)?

Nothing wrong with the legal limit as it is, it's just people not respecting it that's the problem.

Happy please don't mention those 2 imbeciles in the same breath as Morcombe and Wise, or the 2 Ronnies, maybe Mike and Bernie Winters but there is no way A & D come anywhere near those former masters of entertainment.

Four detectives used to go in my local, have 5 or 6 pints and then drive off for some more where the drinks were cheapest in town, the Police Club.

Given people have differing tolerances to alcohol, even when blood tested, I would suggest a zero tolerance approach to it. Stops any confusion, if you drink you run the risk simple.

I totally agree. Having a limit that may or may not allow you to have a drink depending on your body's tolerence is silly. It's too ambiguous.

It's not simple though is it? The issue of when to drive after drinking the night before is full of confusion and ambiguity.
I'm not condoning drink driving but I just don't think it's that simple.

What, like ever? So the thousands upon thousands of people who need to drive every day should, by law, become teetotal?

I'd say don't drive at all the next day. If you literally have to drive every single day then yes, you probably shouldn't drink ever.

The limit is already set based on a low tolerance, most blokes won't fail after a few pints, though obviously I wouldn't advocate pushing your luck.

Isn’t that precisely the problem? People think they won’t fail so they do push their luck.

There was a documentary on the Diana crash, and the reporter got his alcohol level to the same as the driver was alleged to have, which is nice work if you can get it, but the argument was, for a given alcohol level, we would all be equally as 'drunk', but we have to drink different amounts to each other to get to that level. So, some would take 4 pints, and others 20, to get to the same blood alcohol level.

    Does that sound credible?
