We have one the biggest wage budget in the league Leeds 18.

Bates would not say something like that if not true or wise Grayson would say.

All so bates says he has the 75 of the kasper money to spend as he wants so money is there

Again if that was not true why would he put it in the programme notes for all to see?

Um, I don't know. Why do governments doctor statistics to make them look more favourable?

[NSFW]Bates is lying, as is his wont, in order to brainwash people into thinking he's a half-competent chairman who actually backs his managers. Does it take a genius to figure that out?[/NSFW]

So he is going to make stuff up in the match programme that every one can see ie Grayson?

So if it was not true don't you think sg would not be upset by it?

Why do you say that when he all ways says he is being backed?

Let's say you are the boss of a team and your boss is not giving you much money and you know this.

You then open your programme and read he says he is giving money to you that you know you are not getting.

    What do you do?

Because he's forced to lie in order to continue living the dream in his once-in-a-lifetime job.

Lie, in order to protect my livelihood, knowing that the only alternative is to go public and immediately get the sack.

No one can force him to do anything. You are making out like it is a hell job. I do not care if it is a drem job or not no one would put up with that in football. Why would you say you are backed if you are not?

Why not be smart and say I think I have done very well with what I have been given to work with or something like that?

If he got the sack then fans could see who is to blame.

M O'N would never come to Leeds with a chairman like uncle Ken. Personality clash imminent!

And I'm really glad he won’t come to Leeds. Don't like that little **** and I don't think his a good manager either.

Grayson has his hands tied. Bates is not the kind of manager who will allow him to stay if he were to reveal that Bates is fiddling the finances. Grayson won't want to leave.

So he's better than Wilko who won us the top division and got us to the League Cup final?

He's better than O'Leary who led us to a series of top-four finishes and European success?

He's good, but surely he can't even be compared with the managers who've actually taken us to some recognizable high point in national/European football. Don't get me wrong, he's done amazingly well to keep us moving forward against the tide of Bates, but unless/until he gets in the top division, there's no way he can start to compete. If he gets us promoted, I think he'll have done better than O'Leary. If he wins us the title and another cup, he'll have done better than Wilko. But he has a long way to go yet before he's even touching second place to Revie.

He's putting up with it. It's the club he supports, dreamt of playing for and loved as a boy. You can see his passion whenever we score. He loves Leeds United. Now when his dream job at this club hangs loosely on the thread of being a yes-man to Bates, that's a small price to pay for the return of being able to be Leeds United's manager.

Because it's ****ing obvious what that means and he'd get sacked or severely reprimanded.

Yes, but his main interest is his own livelihood, not the level of information the fans are given, and rightly so. It's the board's job to keep the fans informed and they're doing an awful job of it.

O'Leary underachieved IMO with the ridiculous sums of money made available to him. He was very fortunate to have the great young talent coming through the academy at the time (who, IMO, a good manager could have won trophies with without the ridiculous signings). Also if he does better than Wilko then he will be 2nd, so it won't be a very long way once he's done that...

You're right. But he had Leeds playing a very exciting brand of football which had been unfamiliar to the club for some time. You can't deny that it was partly down to him that we did so well and got into Europe. If we'd had a competent chairman in charge and O'Leary hadn't been so stupid with the 'on trial' book, he could have won silverware. As it stands, I rank him on merit of his achievements and in my opinion the top-four finishes and CL semi-final is a better overall achievement than promotion from League One and an acceptable first season in the Championship from Grayson. Like I say, I think two promotions from SG would swing the balance in his favour.

I meant second to Revie, not second to second to Revie, if you know what I mean! <ok>

He has a long way to go before he touches (i.e. takes) Wilko's spot in second place. A Premier League championship and an FA/League/European cup? That's a hugely improbable task for any manager who's not established in the Sky Elite.

The PL goal is a long way off yet, but if Birmingham can win the League Cup and Stoke can get to the FA Cup final...
