This is what I have been sadly unable to get through to this man.
afcftw would have us believe that unless he has seen some good footage of them on youtube then they are not what he wants.
It seems that all our great central defenders, Keown, Adams Bould were typical of what I seen in Cahill but you have got to haggle it down to a pittance for this guy to be happy.
This guy prob goes on hols to Turkey just for the shopping experience!

Not what I call touching a nerve just insulting behaviour and childish for someone who claims to be business minded, I can certainly claim that myself if we are going into career choices! Pretty lame attempt and petty that you could not retract that statement.

I have news for you, the sporting side of the club is flopping! we may be getting top 4 but that is more of an achievement for our business side than our sporting side as we do not look like winning a champions league this last number of years.

Of course we have done well money wise off those players but what good is money if its not properly invested on the pitch, a point you seem to be missing or were you thinking of putting it into Gold or some other commodity safe haven!

And there was me thinking that i might need to apologise for offending you - never mind.

There is nothing you need to get through to me - i have heard the point you are attempting to make (although you didn't really say it - TheBear did) and disgaree with it. Of course to a certain extent size will matter - it does in any sport. How you are built physicalty will natuarly have an effect on each role you attempt to fill in any sport.

However, if you are a skillfull enough player and good enough at what you do then this can be overcome. A great example of this is Messi. He is a midget yet when you watch him play he isn't muscled off the ball.

Another issue i have with the type of signing people are calling for is how well they will fit into our system of play. We play a very high line and require CB's to be pacey and quick minded. I do understand that at set pieces it would be nice to have a bit more size, but actually Kosc and Verm are both very good in the air.

I would like to see Cahill at Arsenal but for me he would be back-up.

Also as far as the haggling down to a pittance - that is not the point. The point is that we should not overpay for players if we do't have to and in this case it is clear we don't have to. Only a complete fool would go in with a £17million bid right now for Cahill.

Sure sounds like i hit a nerve ;)

And i'd love us to re-inves the money we have into the team. I think it is important to get teh debt paid off quickly, but actually i'd like to see alot mroe investment in the teamand i think we now are in a position where we can afford to splash the cash on some top draw additions. I just don't think Cahill for £17 million is good business - it just doesn't make sense.

I'd happily see £20-30 million spent on a single player if they are a good player.

You sound like Arsene with quotes like that. Correct player to spend loads. A player has been identified, the seller sets the price, (and we are not talking price set for mugs er citeh), you don't start by making a derisory offer.... I know how haggling works....
    Buyer: How much?
    Seller: £10
    Buyer: 10p
    Seller: p**% OFF!
Sounds like time wasting to me!

I am not going to insult you, I may have made comments toward you but these are all clearly in jest and anyone with a sense of humour can see that, again petty that you have again chosen not to retract the fundamentally innapropriate comment.

I agree with your logic but so does everyone in that you have got to get the best value, the club are at a critcial juncture right now in many ways, this is not the time for faffing about.
I hope we draw Barca with Messi playing at centre half this year mate, play the Chamster on him and he will kill him in the air.

But you would love it mate! Cant walk down the street without haggle over the price of a pair of rip off jocks. Arsene is taking the missus there for Jan transfer window!

Lol, firstly my comment was clearly me taking the piss! I expected the ":p" to show that, but clearly it didn't and since that point i have just been enjoying your reactions (so i guess i may have been slightly wumming you :O - but not on the cahill comments!).

I actually just burst out laughing in the office at your suggestion of Messi playing at the back lol - that was clearly not my point, don't be pedantic!

If it's anything like Egypt (which i imagine it is) then i would be incredibly annoyed by the amount of hassle they give you but very impressed by the price you can get stuff for just by telling them exactly what you will pay and then turning around and walking away.

Oops! He'd have shat himself on the high ball anyway, might have been worth changing our approach play for that one lol

    Although it's more like:

    Buyer: How Much
    Seller: £10
    Buyer: £2
    Seller: F*** Off, that's ridiculous
Buyer: But in 12 months it's free..hmmm... How about we go for £5 then?
    Seller: We'll take £6.5 and that's it!
    Buyer: So £6 it is.

Or something along those lines lol - you get the picture though. It isn't as simple as us not offering enough cash - it's more us haveing a strong negotiating position and wanting to use that to get the best offer. I do get yourp oint though - we seem to make quite a few offers for the sake of it (if you believe the media on the offers we have made).

So how much do you think is a reasonable offer for Cahill? I wonder why Bolton would make an announcement they have rejected an offer from us for Cahill, I thought this things were usually done behind closed doors...Never mind.... Just hope I don't spend all night like did in January watching sky sports for tranfers.....

Yeah and they have no problem with following you down the road making a scene if they think you have ripped them off (they like it to be the other way around)!

    @omogooner

Imo £10-12 million is fair for Cahill, and i'd be happy settling on the £12 million. But as a starting offer i'd be looking at bidding around £8 million. I mean tbh if they negotiate hard and we pay slightly over the odds it's ok - but £17 million is just sillyness lol

This is the main reason I've stopped supporting Arsenal. They won't be winning any trophies anytime soon.

    Come on United!
