The title of this thread I 100% agree with. The OP is one I find difficult. I've spent too much of my life on trains and in cars, arriving in grotty towns, being herded like a leper, sitting in **** pubs and eating crap food, albeit enjoying football chat with some sound people, not to mention being told by middle class twats that the game I follow is soooo **** compared to the game of the Gods - Rugby Union - that I'm not going to give that up for anything. Saints are my entry to this twilight world, and right now as I prepare to go out for a civilised lunch with friends here in not-so-sunny France I am missing it all like buggery. I will watch tomorrow with my usual trepidation and would kill to be there. We're all totally ****ing mad, we do know that, don't we? COYR
This thread wasn't meant to be taken too seriously ML, it was just my way of expressing the sheer frustration of the season. I thought I'd finish if off with a little joke about Hughes being another false dawn when in truth I'm fairly ambivalent about his appointment.
I'm too soft....had to point out the clash when he said he was making a booking for 13.30. Now going out post-match.....hope we are all in a good mood. COYR.
I rarely take posts too seriously. I do assure you I share your pain. From other posts of yours I've seen I don't see you as a toy thrower. The title is spot on. As my mate said to me forlornly last February at Wembley "The wait goes on." Luckily, an old work mate of mine is a life time Port Vale fan. Now if you want to talk about pain ...!
That is impossible. Then I saw you started your post with I think and I relaxed. Woman can think all they like as what they think is usually a very long way from truth or reality.
If we win the FA Cup and stay up, that's worth a contract of Arsene Wenger-like longevity I would happily gamble on Mark Hughes staying with Saints for 4 years before eventually moving on to Barcalona. That's how elated I feel after beating Wigan on a **** pitch in a howling gale. If we beat West Ham at the Olympic Stadium at the end of the month, I'll be singing his name in my sleep.
Casual sexism, as was this blatant sexist comment "I think you, Fran and I are a bit more sensible than some of the men on here". Such sexist statements must never go unchallenged.
I think we are like travellers in a desert....we come across a puddle and see a lake. And why not be happy on Happiness Day....one day out of 365 ain't bad.
Hate the term casual sexism, racism etc....often it is nothing of the sort. Can't be bothered to get upset about humour or slips of the tongue....there are real things going on in the world. Modern life is just paralysing normal interaction between people. If people aren't trying to deliberately be offensive....let it go. While women are being attacked and murdered around the world and forced into marriage and not given normal human rights, I refuse to get upset about teasing.
Wholeheartedly agree with that Fran. I imagine that comment alone will get your likes through the 14,000 marker today.
I am the most laid back bloke I know. Getting wound up I do not do but I will always fight my corner if that is what you mean.
