Transfer Rumours Ki running down contract

Very disappointing that one of our best players is running down his contract, and seemingly being allowed to do so without a fight by our club to keep him. He should have been tied up 18 months ago.
The fans thought he was waiting to see if we stay up before signing a new contract, whilst also enabling him to concentrate on the relegation battle without the distraction of contract negotiations.
Apparently not, as he was in talks with AC Milan last month. They are looking for free transfers only, to boost their squad, due to FFP rules.
They are at an advanced stage in talks to sign Ki ”in order to increase the level of the bench”, with a medical due soon, according to the Italian Press.
We should have been aware that something was going on behind the scenes when Carlos came out in the Press with the statement that he had assurances from Ki that he would give us 100% in our fight to stay up. Surely he would give that anyway, but to emphasise it publically then you just knew something was going on.

 

As long as he is committed in this period that is all we can ask. He has blown hot or cold, while I rate him and would be disappointed to see him go, it may be for the best. We have had our monies worth so missing the opportunity to cash in is not so bad.

 

How would we cash in - he'd leave for free ?

 

Funny one this, at points during his time here I coulkdnt have cared whether he stayed or was sold on, then other times the guy looks a proper player. On balance seems that CC is getting a tune out of him. so would probably like him to stay. but if his performances keep us up that will be payment enough for the club.

 

Off to Milan by the look of it.....He has served the club well and more than covered his £6m transfer fee.....I'll be sorry to see him go but it's a step up and he deserves the chance imo...

Ki has, since his Celtic days, been a bit of a handful to the clubs and has done little until the run ins.
At his best and given a free reign as a 10 and he will always get and provide goals but ....

 

We could replace Ki with Joe Allen if Stoke go down?.............................

Not on your life, He Has made his bed he can play in the Championship......He has been rubbish this season anyway......And what are we ? A Club that brings back EX players that refused to come back when offered the chance but now they are not the flavour of the season anymore they would jump at the chance.....We need new players and not those who want a pay day like Bony.....

Why do you want Ex players anyway.......same old same old.. What we need is a different approach to better the squad.....Going backwards picking up Ex players does not improve anything....

 

Depends on the player, I rate Joe as much as Leon, who you never wanted back from Sheffield at the time!!........................

He threw his toys out of his pram and left us in the lurch and he did not care........He was forced to beg to come back with cap in hand when his wife got home sick and would not live in sheffield.....I would have made him stay there.....He was a very luck boy and he learned a very important lesson that the Manager calls the shots not any player.....and in his case his wife calls the shots over him.......He could have Blown his Legend status and a premiership career for being such a prat and he knows it.....

My understanding was he didn't get on with Sousa.
If we can sell Caroll and sign Joe it's a win win for me.
