    Ones to forget:

26 Jan 1929 Fulham v Queens Park Rangers L 5-0 Division Three (South)
02 Oct 1948 Fulham v Queens Park Rangers L 5-0 League Division Two
    02 Oct 2011 Fulham v Queens Park Rangers L 6-0 Premier League

We head to Craven Cottage this weekend for the lunchtime match on Saturday, live on Sky. Disappointing for us fans abroad as it won't be on QPR+. We head to Fulham, who are only a place and a point behind Villa, who we put to the sword on Tuesday night. Surely this means there is hope.

Another team with a few scorers who have netted quite a few, with Sessegnon on 14, and Kamara and Mitrovic on 7. Smith (8), Washington (6) and Freeman (5) make a grim comparison. That said, who cares about stats. Stats would have had us a dead cert to get a thumping on Tuesday night, and that didn't happen. Surely we can dare to dream it can happen twice in a week.

Hopefully Sylla, Mackie and Robinson will have recovered from their minor injuries and will be back in contention, which leaves us with a relatively empty physio room, other than the long term absentees (Hall and Wheeler as far as I remember, add others if I have forgotten - cheers Oslo for the update).

A week ago I'd have had this down as a no-hoper, but after Tuesday night, hope has been rekindled. The challenge, which has been there all season, will be to build up some consistency and find a way to maintain the performance we saw on Tuesday night. If we could start building a run of solid performances to see the season out, it would bring hope that better things are ahead.

P.S - Thanks for all your kind messages on the Villa match day thread, the boy spent two nights in hospital. Woke up yesterday morning demanding 'chocolate' and 'peppa pig'. He was discharged yesterday evening.

After out great performance at Villa, what team would you pick?

I believe that the performance was so outstanding that it would be terrible management and a bad message to change it. So I would propose an unchanged team:

    -----------------------Smithies---------
    --Furlong-----Onuoha---Lynch----Bidwell--
    --------------Luongo-------Scowen------------
    -Wszołek-------------Eze-------Manning---
    ------------------------Smith---------------------

I have sketched the team as 4:2:3:1, but the play was so fluid and balenced that our shape was 4:5:1, 4:3:3, 4:4:1:1 etc, plus Paweł and Manning were switching wings. A joy to watch.

It may be a bit tough for Freeman, but I would certainly hope to actively and effectively use both Freeman and Smyth in the second half.

Does anyone know if Smyth ot Robinson are fit?

I just hope that we don't have a "success hangover effect" similar to Villa after their Wolves success.

I have just checked that the match will be screened by Sports11 in Poland - but on their 4th and last channel, so phew!!. I am really pleased that I will have a good transmisson and will be able to give KODI a rest.

Although I am wishing for a repeat performance, I am very much controlling my expecations to a competitive and good team performance where the youngster can build on their confidence.

    COYR's!!!

Install an ad-blocker CCJ - kills all the pop-ups for me.

Nice preview Dave, glad your kid is well.

Here's hoping for a decent performance, and not the usual low after the highs of earlier this week. If Robinson is fit, I'd dlot him into the Lynch position above, but would leave the rest of the team un-changed, with Freeman an option from the bench.

Sylla and Mackie both played in an U23 game earlier in the week Dave, so unless they had reactions they are on the way back. Ollie has just said he has decisions to make about Smyth and Robinson for tomorrow. I've heard Wheeler and Hall are out for the rest of the season.

Just hearing that Josh Scowen has suspected appendicitis and is being assessed by medical staff.

Think Ollie has some decisions to make for Saturday, though now happily he is going to have to leave good in form players on the Bench, especially if Smyth and Robinson are fit again. I think he should keep the team that started Saturday except I'd prefer Freeman to Manning who was wide right in the attacking 3 mainly at Villa, though switching a lot with Pawel. It would be hard on Manning but then it would be tough on Freeman too if he's left out after both scored.

Edit If Scowen is out Manning could play his position with Freeman in Manning's place at Villa.

Cheers, I may have got confused between Mackie and Hall. I knew we had two out long term but forgot about Hall.

True. If Scowen is out then Manning is the obvoius choice and Freeman has a slot on the right (or they switch with Eze).

This is such a better formation . Makes us harder to break down and gives us more going forward . Players not playing out of position also .
Only taken 60 odd games to stumble across it !!!

Don’t want to see mackie anywhere near the first team . We are a much poorer side when he plays . The stats back it up as well . Avg 1 pt a game when he starts and 1.5pts when he doesn’t. Another example of olly playing the wrong people , wrong positions etc

...or leave Manning where he is and play Cousins in his natural position as a holding CM - could do a job... no?

...then Freeman to come on on 70 mins and make the game safe!

    Well why not?
It's about time we had a uplift ... so why can't we win at Fulham

Second thoughts honestly ... they play the best football in this division and I am really hoping they get a auto promotion ... their football deserves it IMO

Sessegnon is mustard, and they are flying atm - but stranger things have happened.

Win or lose.. all we really need to see is the boys giving it a proper go... I'd be happy with that.

Eze seems to be a more natural 10... but isn't it refreshing to have selection headaches like these?
