I agree to a large extent, especially those form PL lads. But it is not so easy to qualify form and merit when a player is doing it at championship level. Do they merit a call up? when to this point they have not merited playing for a PL or top league level? Is it not easier to show form against lesser players? Should Cameron Jerome have been considered for England after getting 21 goals in 45 games in the Championship? Obviously not, had been in form when we went up and only score 3 that following PL season. The jump is huge and I think whilst Madders and Sessegnon are very talented it is a big leap of faith to say that they can not only jump to PL level but to international level too. (Could argue that international level is actually a step down from top domestic leagues and certainly from the Champions league) With that said, I can't think of enough players in either position that are definitely better or in form enough to say that they wouldn't be worth a punt, even if just for; experience of the environment, Southgate getting a look at them and asking things of them to ready them better for their almost inevitable call ups to actually play in the next couple of years. Bah!
Yep, I'd agree with this bit. Though in recent times, one player (Theo Walcott?) went to a world cup or Euros and never got onto the pitch at any stage - mustn't that be a bit damaging to a player's development?
Changing topic slightly - Hughes appointed as Saints manager after 2 failures with foreign managers!!!
Does this mean we will have to stop mocking them for their half empty ground? We feel like we have already hit the doldrums and the championship only feels immenantly escapable one way and thats not the good way! This is no short term project, but the problem is, another season where we don't compete and bore the fans with a poor and laboured home offering and the project becomes harder as we bleed fans and income. How long could they maintain the highest prices in the division with a dwindeling crowd? Long term project or not, Farke must sort the home form by next seasons renewals or it really could nose dive. We as fans want hope and something to play for, this season we already have 9 dead rubbers and seemingly no intent for Farke to blood the less tested contingient of his squad. bah!
Why not give Fonkeu or Abrahams a run out? All very well saying they're 'not ready' but surely a short appearance in a meaningless fixture has to help them get used to things at a higher level. Cantwell got a chance and didn't disgrace himself one bit.
WHY are NCFC SOOOO surprised at the drop in ST renewals - the football has been for the most part pretty grim and as for ST prices . ........ I'm quite happy just getting an occasional ticket to go to games and it has probably saved me at least £150 over the season by not having a few beers when I go to games. Spot on General - DF might as well give some of the more promising Under23s a chance over the next few games, as there is now nothing left to play for. A couple of articles I read earlier - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...ejected-offers-from-german-football-1-5435339 http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...smith-open-to-hearts-long-term-stay-1-5435422 IMO, it's a TOTAL no-brainer, as we'd save around £2M in his salary alone!!!!! PLEASE NCFC - make it happen!!!!
Who knows until they get the chance, and they can only decimate the opposition they have to play. By the large number of massive clubs looking at Madders and Sess, I'm guessing they are plenty good enough, and a lot better than the likes of Henderson, Sturridge, Welbeck. The usual crap.
Uncapped Nick Pope, James Tarkowski, Alfie Mawson and Lewis Cook have been called up to the England squad for the friendlies against Holland and Italy, the Football Association has announced. please log in to view this image
Oh the perils of modern football, everybody wanting ,nay demanding, instant success or we will mutiny and run the team head coach and board out of town
Joe f**king Hart!?!?!?! WHAT?! Henderson again, Welbeck again, Lallana even though I'm not sure he has started a game since injury has he?! Livermore is not England quality. God there's some average sh*te in that squad again.
Oh of course Dave, we all think Delia is a steaming turd of an Owner since losing to Hull and only drawing with Barnsley, she was great before that, please include other stupid generalisations like; Kneejerk, Witchhunt, youngsters today... Bah!
We were told when SW came in that the restructuring would take up to 5 transfer windows, so far we have had two (2) I would say that is well short of the mark, or has arithmetic changed in the last few years?
IF he starts, then I surrender ALL hope of England progressing into the knock- out stages in Russia. He's been 'past his sell-by date' for at least a couple of years!!!'
He hasn't played until the last game, where he was a shambles, as he has been the past few seasons! Yet he still "has earned a call up". On top of that, who the hell can any single WBA player be called up?!
On a more positive note, Really happy for Alfie, he's looked a very decent player. Well worth a look. Even more so James Tarkowski, who has been excellent. Also, I would really like to see Nick Pope start in goal for the first friendly. He is the only keeper in the squad who truly deserve a chance from the start. Jese Lindgard's impacts in big games from the bench for United is really encouraging. It's good to see him get a call, because England really need players who can make an impact from the bench, when things are just crawling along.
I really want an England manager to be brave and creative enough to pick players in the Championship and drop the so called big players who are out of form, but nothing will change sadly.
