His granddad put a bet on him to play for Wales back when he was only a nipper and won £150k, so that sole cap seems a bit dodgy, as it happened while he was still in the Liverpool youth setup.

Southgate is apparently going to give call-ups to Burnley's Nick Pope and James Tarkowski.

At least he's picking some players on merit, rather than just who they play for.

Southgate doing his usual 'look down the league table top to bottom and pick out English players in the top 10'

Bit unfair somewhat, Nick Pope should absolutely be in the squad. Not many English keepers playing better.

Also, Burnley are playing pretty bloody well, the English players in their squad who are playing well deserve a chance. This is a squad for friendlies, there's nothing to play for, it gives Southgate a chance to see who he should take to Russia.

England Manager can never win with an England Squad due to fans club loyalties....but he certainly wont win with that one!!

    Welbeck??? Livermore??

At least there is no Cahill, Smalling and Jones.

Has Livermore even been getting a game for West Brom recently?

Started about half their games since the start of the year and came on as a sub in the other half.

    Doubt he'll get on anyway.

How the **** had Hart been called up?

Doesn’t play for West Ham for most of the season and on his recall drops a howler which lead to a goal.

    Absolutely ridiculous decision.

Ignoring the fact that he's not good enough, why the hell do we need four keepers anyway?

Surprises Jake is included, after the Spanish taxi episode, and the Baggies situation in the league, can't be in the best of form.

Wales are weird. They picked that Dan James who left our academy to go to Swansea, before he'd ever made an appearance in senior football.

I know that's not the full squad for the World Cup with Kane's injury etc, but can't remember many less inspiring squad lists in my lifetime

can they switch nationality after making an app for wales?

but scotland are kinda doing the same, trying to get as many potential stars of the future already ingrained into the national set up

Come on mate, you cannot defend Hart being included.

I don’t do the England bashing thing but that decision regarding Hart is beyond laughable.

    It’s a disgrace.

Maybe whoever says it thinks the same , can only speak for myself - no criticism of the manager , there is just hardly anybody worth choosing from - the likes of Fowler and Ian Wright used to never get a look in because of the forwards in front of them , it is just a shame that the depth of English players just isn't there
