It was originally supposed to open about now, but I went past a week or two back and there didn't seem to be anything happening on site.
I think I may have read that the start of tendering for the Castle St footbridge gets underway soon, but there again it may be fake news as this saga has been going on for years.
As part of that they will have to exhume 19,000 bodies from the Trinity burial ground, Earl de Gray will be knocked down and rebuilt, small section of the marina needs filling in, Spurn lightship moved, sewers moved, and within all that they need to sort out traffic. Can't see it going ahead...
It's GOT to go ahead, not going ahead isn't really worth contemplating - Hull can't reach its full potential and prosper with Clive Sullivan Way as it is now ..... it's a nightmare that's only getting worse.
It has to go ahead at some point, I wouldn’t be surprised if the major works were delayed further, but the bridge is definitely fixed for October.
They need to stop ****ing about and build a road like this missing out the city centre. Think big. please log in to view this image
I've heard that the new flyover over Castle Street will be named after one of the city's most celebrated sons. Ehab Allam. Of course there will be the unique feature of a permanently locked gate at one end.
So if the bridge is finished in Feb 2020 and the new road project starts in Mar 2020 would the bridge get demolished just as it's finished?
