There really isn’t anything better for the spirits than: an unexpected QPR win away against a team on a very good run; beating a team by 3 goals with John Terry and ‘taking all three points again’; hearing so many upbeat fans on here - God knows we needed something to cheer about; sticking it to John Terry - c*#t; laughing at bad losers rubbishing us and our name - we have the 3 points losers!! getting some young players stepping up and showing us great promise; hearing DT claim he knew we would win every week and finally getting it right ; knowing we had a great team performance and that we really are capable of doing so much better as a team. Well done lads!! Thank you for another strand of hope (and for putting down that piece of s#*t, John Terry). You Rrrrrrrrrrrsssssss.
Knowing Uncle Neil, I really don’t think you’ll slip from here. Had a look at your fixtures and it’s tough but given your last three I think you’ll get there.
Enjoyed that immensely. Think I woke the neighbourhood up cheering those goals. Great performances from all. Especially enjoyable watching Eze. 1st half they kept pulling him down to stop him running into their box and gave us a few free kick in dangerous areas. Later on 2 or 3 defenders stood off him and Eze was able to slow down and pick out teammates making runs into space they had left behind them. Certainly he is one to enjoy while we have him.
How's it going with those 'risky' youngsters then Ian? While some may be singing your praises today I'm thinking of the months and years our best young prospects have spent out on loan or glued to the bench while we have been struggling. From the brief highlights it looks like Eze and Furlong were the stars of the show again and this time joined by Manning. And yet all three have been forced into the side by circumstances rather than by any strategy from the coaching staff. After so much wasted time I'm just hoping we can get a few months out of them before having to sell them on. Sorry to be the party pooper...
In fairness to Ollie, he’s only been in charge a little over a year, so not sure one can lay the blame with him and his tenure. Necessity being the mother of invention, I’m delighted the youngsters are getting game time and starting to show us what they can do, whatever the circumstances.
Was anyone on here at Villa? What formation were we playing? Although the official said we were starting in 4 4 2, from the stream and commentary it looked more like 4 2 3 1 to me with Pawel mainly left in the 3, Manning on the right and Eze mostly central behind Smith. Pawel and Manning looked to turn inside onto their favourite pegs but that seems to work well with both Furlong and Bidwell often overlapping them on their natural wings. It seemed to give us the width we didn't have the last 2 games. When Perch came on for Pawel we seemed to go 3 CB''s again.
Here's a match report from a fan at the game, Andrew Watson ... http://wattoswords.blogspot.co.uk/2018/03/rampant-rangers-demolish-villa-aston.html
That's a great write up, and relatively succinct which I always appreciate. So Holloway leaves out one of our best players, Freeman, and we go 0-2 up at Villa Park, and Freeman comes on as a super-sub to score the 3rd. Football's a funny old game...

Not quite sure that's the case AAAAAGH. I believe that we are beginning to reap the rewards of sending these "youngsters" out on loan to learn their trade whilst playing senior football. I think we all remember when Furlong was thrown into the Premier League games under Ramsey's tenure and he looked at times like a rabbit caught in headlights, whereas now he is beginning to look like a really accomplished player, he's bulked up a bit, got more upper body strength and more savvy. He's done this by playing senior games in the lower divisions and is something that he wouldn't have got playing in games against similar aged players. Same with Eze who's obviously benefited from being at Wycombe in the first half of the season, don't forget that Millwall released Eze as they thought he wasn't good enough. Compare these 2 for arguement sake with Goss who's 5 or 6 years older but has only played a handful of senior games as he was cosseted in a big clubs academy and it's bit of a shock to his system to be in the big mans game, hopefully he'll gain a lot by being in Scotland for a few months. IMO i believe the club is doing the right thing and introducing the "youngsters" in a sensible fashion as hopefully they will develope over the next 12 months so that we can sell on a the right price having already lined up the next group of lads to take their place.
