The mackems soooooo deserve to go down again this season (MExit II) on account of them being in the bottom 3 so many times and also because they have the longest winless run in the Championship this season (16 games, earlier in the season).

Hull one up at Ipswich, puts them on 39 points.

I'll humour the thread and highlight that a) Hull are 3-0 up b) The Barnsley scorer (Oli McBurnie) is someone Sunderland were strongly linked with in January and the general reaction was "who?" then he went to Barnsley instead.

Now I'm off to the Sunderland Forum to wallow and hope for Barnsley to fold.

8 points from safety including the goal difference. Can't see them overturning that gap.

Useless Barnsley drew 1-1, the mackems are 5 points from safety with a worse GD. So, even if they win their next game the mackems will still be in the bottom three.

Crikey. They need to win a quarter of their remaining games and hope that Barnsley don’t win any....

    Tall order.

It is a piss easy league though so anything can happen.

Useless Sunderland have the worst defensive record in the Championship (66 goals conceded from 37 games), as well as that record 16 game winless run. It's going to be hard to win anything, they will certainly find it hard to win over their remaining fans at the Bungalow.

Sunderland will need at least 38 points, probably more like 40 to survive.

    upload_2018-3-13_22-43-23.png

There's 9 games and Shef Wed, Reading, Bolton will all get over 40 points. At their current rate Barnsley would get 41 points.

Sunderland need 3 wins and some draws from their last 9 games. 4 losses maximum you feel. Their games are of variable difficulty but it is in their hands, it's just they look a bit shot at the moment. Preston (H) at the weekend, massive.

Currently 37% ****ed by my reckoning (my own calculations), whereas West Brom - for instance - are 67% ****ed.

Quite how the ground floor dwellers are not cast adrift by now is beyond me. For such a piss easy league all of the teams at the bottom are making a proper meal of it. Barnsley have blown a good opportunity to put daylight between themselves and the bottom 3 this evening...................... although daylight between them and the six digit crew is all that i am concerned about.

    This.

Barnsley have two home games coming up and they had better get at least four points from them or they can fook off as well <grr>

Ellis really has shafted them indeed. I doubt you'll need me to tell you, it'll be all over here! I wont be celebrating myself but appreciate if it was the other way around there'd be plenty coming the other way.

    I will celebrate................ **** 'em!!

I wouldn't want to see them disappear completely, but a few years of scrabbling around in the lower leagues to get some humility instilled back into them will do me nicely.

If the tables we're turned the vast, vast majority of 'them' would feel the same way, i reckon.

Fook them, they've loved it in the past when we've messed up. Stuff 'em.
