We’ve been in this position before and I get taken in every time. They raise your hopes and then it all comes crashing down.

A reasonable start to the season followed by a football lesson from Watford ffs.

Some mediocre performances lead to a demolition of the Toffees and an unlucky defeat at City. An away draw at Bompey and a well deserved draw at home to the Arse. Things are looking up I thought. Then we played Leicester (I use the term “played” very loosely) Here we go again.

Then more depressing dross. But an unexpected draw at Utd gets the hopes up and I know this is when our season turns around. Then comes Palace at home. **** me, we are back to being ****e.

Next up, two matches against relegation rivals that we would surely make the most of. We all know we’re too good to be down here. What we just needed was a consistent run. What I didn’t know was that we were in a consistent run, a seventeen game consistent run. The most recent of which produced goals for a player who hadn’t scored for two years.

Now I’ve had it with them. I’m already looking at things to do next year because I’m sure as hell not wasting my money on season tickets.

All this culminates in the sacking of Pell and it's not too late, we can rise again. Next year’s season tickets are back on the agenda.

Then I hear Mark Hughes is the favourite for the job. ****’n hell they’ve done me again.

 

We're not in a position to be picky I'm afraid. If he keeps us up he probably deserves to have some backing over the Summer etc. Haven't got enough games to bed a new manager in who has no experience of fighting relegation in this league.

 

I have partially detached myself. I love Saints and, as suggested, it is the hope that kills you....I am going to take whatever happens and be up and running next season whether we are in the EPL or Championship. I feel that we at least tried if we go down with a new manager....rather that than just carry on sliding down with Mauricio. Don't have a problem with Mark Hughes....we need someone that the team can respect and who might be able to just kick a few extra points out of them....I'm not expecting them to be turned into Real Madrid.

 

Mark Hughes is not a bad option. He's not a great option, but not bad in the circumstances.
