A complete one off. An utter Clown, in the very nicest sense. There can't ever be another like him. God Bless and thanks for a lifetime of laughs.
RIP Doddy. I was fortunate to see him live on stage, a complete one off whose only aim in life was to make people laugh. I'm really saddened by this news.
They reckon you couldn't drag him off the stage! He'd sometimes be on for something daft like 4-5 hours. Worked hard for his success, good for him. RIP
Huge loss. RIP happiness, happiness, the greatest gift, that I possess I thank the lord , that I’ve been blessed, With more than my share of happiness
I went to see him in Stafford many years ago. It was supposed to be a 2 hour show, but it didn't finish till after midnight. Every line a laugh and not once did he swear. Modern comedians don't think they can be funny without using "industrial language" and when I'm out with my wife I don't want to hear that. I know that I'm old fashioned, but I was brought up to not use that sort of language in front of women, although they seem to use it as much as men these days so I don't know why I bother really!!
Laughed more in five minutes watching the tribute than I did in 1 whole hour of Micky flannigans stand up - poles apart
Don't start me off on that bugger! Saw him in Birmingham last summer. First 20 minutes I might have laughed once or twice. The other 2 hours or so, nothing!!! Bloke wasn't funny at all, not once!
Seen him at the Sunderland empire 2 days before the 1998 play off final, and he warned us to have flasks and sarnies at the ready ! 4 hours his show lasted, a legend.
Never been a fan odf his to be honest, and I knew somone who worked backstage at the Empire who said he was an utter twat once off stage..
I saw Mickey Flanagan a few times before he made it big in pubs around London. He was genuinely hilarious and one of the best comedians I've seen. Since he's hit the mainstream, his material has tailed off badly.
This last tour, he spent most of the time telling everyone how rich he was now and about going back off tour to see his wife. Kept waiting for the funny. Never happened.
Sounds crap! I've not seen him live since those early gigs but when I've seen him on the telly/DVD since then he's been nowhere near as funny. Shame really.
My old man worked for the Revenue back in those days. Guilty as sin, but tried in Liverpool. Still, RIP...
